After leaving early morning service at church, we had some errands to run. One of them was to the pet store (Petco) to get some lizard food for our sons Gecko. When we left the store it was going on 11:00 a.m. and everyone was hungry. Across the street from the pet store, there was a IHOP, so we hopped right over to eat.
When we pulled in the parking lot, we couldnt find a parking spot. When we drove past the front door, we looked in from our car and there seemed to be a lot of people waiting. I really didnt want to have to wait long. The last time we went to IHOP was a year ago when we were traveling. We stopped at one in Victorville, CA and we left not very satisfied. Anyway, we had to park in a parking lot that belongs to a different restaurant. We went inside of the other restaurant (because it was empty) to see what they had on their menu. They didnt have breakfast items and thats what we kind of had in mind, except our son wanted lunch. So, we walked over to IHOP that has breakfast, lunch and diner on their menu. It was a fifteen minute wait, which isnt that bad.
While we were waiting, everyone was crowding around because it was a very windy and cold day. The foyer is extremely small, well the restaurant is small but clean, and no where to go as people were lining up to pay or to reserve a seat. Finally, the hostess called our name to be seated and the waitress came to our table immediately after we sat down to take our drink orders which was two ice teas, coffee, and a rootbeer. She came back quickly with our drinks and took our order (we had in mind what we wanted because we ate there before). I ordered the Spinach and Mushroom Omelet with extra cheese and the Harvest Grain Pancakes ($1.00 extra). My husband ordered the Colorado Omelet and it came with hashbrowns. My daughter ordered the Sampler- two eggs (scrambled), hashbrowns, two pieces of bacon, two sausages, and two slices of ham with buttermilk pancakes. My son ordered a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with french fries.
The food came to our table in about five minutes (it seemed very fast) after ordering it and it looked nice and hot. It looked wonderful. My omelet was beautiful. The cheese melted on it perfectly and not a sign of over cooked eggs. We all had a smile on our faces when the food came to our table. After biting into our food, no one was talking because we were just enjoying it all. The pancakes was cooked just right melting in my mouth with every bit. The waitress kept checking on our drinks keeping it refilled. She was a good waitress, neat in appearance and her hair pulled back braided down her back, and was very quick in serving us.
I ate most of the Harvest Grain Pancakes but not all of my Spinach Omelet. It was a lot of food. So I had a doggy bag of omelet to go home with. Everyone else finished their meal and was very satisfied. The tab came out to be around $58.00 including the tip, which isnt bad for a family of four.
I told my husband as we were walking to the car that IHOP kicked it up a notch. They had to because of their competitors around them and if they wanted people to go back. I would go back to the IHOP in the Centennial Hills Shopping Center in Las Vegas, NV but not at the one in Victorville, CA. Since IHOP is a big franchise, they should all kick it up a notch to be on the same page, so customers wont have to wonder if this one or that one is going to be any good or not. They should have the consumers trust that it is all good no matter which IHOP they go to.
