Pros: They give a military discount.
Cons: Almost everything else.
The Bottom Line: If you're traveling in southern Md, don't go to the IHOP in Lexington Park.

| terrid's Full Review: IHOP |
I was sleeping good this morning. I didn't have to be to work until 9 and decided to sleep in. Around 7:15am my phone rang. I forgot to tell my husband who works grave yard shift that I was sleeping in for a change. However, he was calling to find out if we would have enough time to go out for breakfast. So, he's forgiven for waking me up.
In our semi-small town, there are not a lot of choices of where to eat breakfast on a Sunday. You can go fast food or IHOP. He decided to take me to IHOP.
We don't usually go to IHOP locally. First, they have been closed down for food poisoning a couple of times. Second, they seem to always have an extremely cold resturant. third, they are slow. And finally, the food is usually cold. But we decided to give it another try.
The parking lot was fairly full when we pulled in giving us some worry about enough time so I would be on time for work. We decided to chance it and went in. The dining area wasn't that full so maybe some of the cars belonged to the workers. It still took a few minutes to be greated.
The overall appreance of the resturant was it was clean. Tables were promptly cleared and wiped down.
We were seated at a small booth. This was fine as there was only 2 of us. We immediately asked for coffee as I hadn't had any yet and I'm not really awake until I've had at least 3 or 4 cups. The coffee was brought shortly with two cups and cream.
For those of you that don't know, IHOP puts it's coffee in a thermos type container and leaves it at your table. This is suppose to keep your coffee hot and lets you get more than the small cup they bring you. The coffee while not cold wasn't piping hot either.
As we were there from breakfast, we checked out the breakfast menu. They offer other things for lunch and dinner but it was a little early for that stuff. There are all kinds of combinations that you can get for breakfast....eggs, sausage and pancakes, pancakes with fruit, waffles, crepes.......you get the idea.
I ordered pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. My husband ordered two eggs over easy, sausage and pancakes. Our orders were delivered to the table in good time along with hot maple syrup. The only thing lacking was silverware for me and the waiter didn't stay around long enough for me to ask for some.
We finally stopped a waitress that my husband knew. She got me silverware so I could eat. The pancakes looked terrific and they were fairly good. Like the coffee they weren't exactly cold but they weren't real hot either. The strawberries were frozen and they were thawed but not heated. My husband said his was okay.
Well, if you are a coffee drinker like we are, you know that we needed more coffee. Once again, no waiter to be found. Again, we bothered my husband's friend to get us some. While drinking the first cup from the second container, the caffiene finally kicked in and I noticed that my cup had lipstick on it. As I do not wear lipstick, I think it's safe to assume that my cup had be brought to the table dirty. Not a real pleasant thought.
The waiter did stop by long enough to give us our bill. For this wonderful dinning experience, it was going to cost us a little over $15. I went up to the cashier to pay and asked if they still had a military discount. She said they did and I whipped out that id. Hey, every little bit helps!
I went back to our table to leave a very small tip and my husband's friend came by again. She asked how everything was. After we told her about the dirty cup and she already knew about how our waiter never checked on us, she went to find the manager.
Now, I don't know why I wasn't surprised but the manager had already left for the day and the next manager hadn't showed up yet.
Will I go back to our local IHOP? Not any time soon. For as much as we spent, I think a hot cup of coffee in a clean cup wouldn't be too much to ask. I just wish that this was one of the places that I get to mystery shop.
