Exquisite Fast Food: The Best

Written: Jan 29 '02
Pros:Great food, great service, great place.
Cons:Simple menu, only a few things on it.
The Bottom Line: If you like fast food, and In N Out is an available option for you, then definitely check it out.

In N Out is my favorite fast food chain by far. Everything about the place is wonderful. It started in 1948 in Baldwin Park, and was the first drive through hamburger stand in California. The Snyder family founded In N Out, and their philosophy was quite simple, “Give customers the freshest, highest quality foods you can buy and provide them with friendly service in a sparkling clean environment." To this very day their philosophy has stood and it really shines in the In N Out fast food chain that is still family-owned.

The menu is really simple. You will spend barely any time pondering choices. You can get a hamburger or a cheeseburger. You can either get fries or no fries. And you can choose from their selection of fountain drinks, lemonade, or the world famous milkshakes. Everything on that menu has been perfected. To this day, I’ve never had a better hamburger or cheeseburger or milkshake from any other fast food joint. The fries could use a little work, but it’s hard to get them as good as the standard set by McDonald’s. The fries are actually healthy fries (oxymoron) because they come from the highest-grade potatoes, and they are shipped to In N Out straight from the farm. The fries are cooked in cholesterol-free vegetable oil and they are always fresh. In fact, you can see the In N Out employees peeling the potatoes as soon as you order fries. Everything that comes on a burger, including the burger, is of the most exquisite quality possible. The burgers are 100% all beef patties selected from In N Out’s personal butchers. The lettuce is hand leafed. The tomatoes are the juiciest and ripest they can find. The buns make the burger legendary in my opinion. They are toasted sponge bread buns, SO GOOD! Every single ingredient is delivered daily, and In N Out prepares everything old fashioned; you couldn’t find a single microwave, heat lamp, or freezer in any In N Out store. Each burger is cooked one by one as soon as you order it. The milkshakes are made from real ice cream, and they are purely delicious. In N Out is so good I’m actually salivating over it right now.

I eat at In N Out once a week. I order a number one each time with a nice lemonade. I’d say once a month I order a vanilla milkshake. I would order a vanilla milkshake every time, but I have to remain healthy. I’ve actually been eating at In N Out once a week for 3 years. You could say I’ve been there over 150 times already. Wow, that’s a lot of meat, fries and lemonade. It’s just so darn good I can’t resist. I love the food each and every time, and the quality is always superb. Employees are always so nice and kind, and they are about 150 for 150, they haven’t messed up one order yet. It’s incredible.

At some low-level fast food place like McDonald’s, you never get the right order. They can’t handle simple things, and most of the time they can barely speak English. That was in no way stereotypical, it’s just that McDonald’s doesn’t really properly train their employees like they should. Also at a place like McDonald’s your food is always gross. Nothing is fresh, and most of the time the food is only luke-warm. Ever since I discovered In N Out, I’ve completely stopped eating at McDonald’s. Also, I can’t really ever depend on the cleanliness of McDonald’s because their average window rating is a B. At In N Out, I can always understand the employees clearly, trust the cleanliness, and I can always look forward to their delicious meals.

In N Out keeps growing, and I can’t wait until my cousins on the east coast get to taste what real fast food is all about. Since their opening in 1948 in Baldwin Park, 159 locations have sprouted throughout California, Arizona, and Nevada. Their rate of growth is phenomenal especially considering the fact that it’s a family owned franchise. I love In N Out, and everyone fan of fast food should eat there.
