Quality with a Name......

Written: May 16 '00
Pros:Superior Quality and Taste, Clean place
Cons:Low Selection Variation (could be a Pro though)

How about a review today on the institution itself, rather than on a local branch? Too many reviews on fast food chains are more on the local branches that people have had experience with rather than on the food entity as a whole. I too am guilty of this style writing, so today I will attempt to reverse that trend.

What is so Great about In-N-Out?

1. In-N-Out is just about the only fast food hamburger place there is around nowadays who still pays attention to quality, while also serving you with quantity, all the while still providing the customer with the lowest price for a meal you can find at any fast-food hamburger restaurant.

2. You can order any size you want. You can go with the traditional single pattie hamburger, or the double-double (two patties), both with fries and a drink for less than $5. (Choose a shake instead of a drink, and it may be over that $5 mark) The choices don't stop there though. For those larger eaters you can choose from a triple-triple, or a quadruple-quadruple. Can you handle it? Yes, that is lot of meat, but there are just some people out there that need a lot to eat.

3. The fries. Well, I don't really know how to describe them, simply because they aren't like the fries at any other restaurant. They are of a much different taste and texture, yet by far my favorite. Not for those health food fanatics as they are very greasy.

4. The shakes. All In-N-Outs make the best strawberry milkshakes. I have not tried the others as I am very partial to the strawberry ones, but I am sure they are just as fantastic. Choose one over a soda next time, and experience what I mean.

All in all, the ingredients and final products of everything they serve are top notch quality in comparison to any similar restaurant. There is no reason not to try it at least once.

5. I never have been in a single In-N-Out that wasn't 90% clean at least. It is almost impossible for any restaurant to be perfectly clean during the busiest hours of the business day, there is bound to be a bit of a mess somewhere, that accounts for other 10%, but otherwise, In-N-Out employs a great business practice of maintaining their stores with the utmost efficiency.

6. I will easily point out the first argument that a person will spout out against this restaurant, and that will be the minimal selection. With only the various sizes of hamburgers, cheesburgers, as well as the fries, sodas and shakes to choose from, you don't get the more varied selection you would at a McDonalds or Burger King, but that is what this company is aiming for. They can maintain their marketing mix as saying that they are only targeting the burger lovers of the market. They practice single segmentation (only one target market), so as to provide the utmost quality in that one area, which is what they do, and they do it the best. If they were to vary their product line further then they wouldn't be able to focus on the one product, and it may even affect the quality of the product. As they are already experiencing great sales and growth currently, I see no reason they would have to differentiate any. The people eat it up currently, so why change it?

Note: As in any other review of mine, I advise you to experience the product for yourself. As we all have different tastebuds, I certainly cannot speak for each person themselves, and think everybody should experience it in order to find their own true feelings on the product, and also to be able to write an Epinion on it. Good luck all, and happy eating (remember to grab a shake with it.)
