J. Alexander's Right on the Money

Pros: Great service, good selection of menu items without being overwhelming, amazing stock
Cons: I have to drive an hour to get there.
The Bottom Line: If you're in a city that happens to have a J. Alexander's, go eat there. It's a great restaurant, for a reasonable price. I also highly recommend buying the stock.

I had never heard of J. Alexander's until a couple of months ago when a radio station took me to the Baton Rouge, Louisiana location to woo me.
I was immediately impressed with the atmosphere...and the wonderful smells that hit me right when I walked in the door.
The service was top notch from the time that I walked in, until the time that I left.
My dining partner and I decided to split the Alex salad. I couldn't believe when them came out with the split salad. Both bowls held enough salad for a meal. I have to say that it was one of the best side salads that I've ever had, and the croissant that comes with it is good enough to eat for dessert.
For my meal, I had the cilantro shrimp, which was equally to die for. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and it comes with delicious rice and their signature Maytag Blue Cheese Cole Slaw. I never would've thought to put blue cheese in cole slaw...but it WORKS!!!
On another visit, I had the prime rib, which turned out to be the best prime rib that I've ever had.
I also had the best white russian that I've ever had. I couldn't figure out why it was so good. There's only three ingredients in a while russian after all. Then I creep up to the bar to watch them make it and I see the secret ingredient...French Vanilla coffee creamer!
I have yet to have dessert because I'm always so full from my meal.
I find the prices to be on par with the atmosphere and dining experience.
I was so impressed with J. Alexander's that I continue to drive 1 hour to go there, and started researching their stock (JAX). Turns out that it's got a Stock Scouter rating of 9 and has really great projections for the future. I immediately bought the stock and have seen a 50% increase in it since I bought it.
To say that I'm thrilled with J. Alexander's is an understatement. They're right on the money!
