Pros: Inexpensive. Normally good food.
Cons: We don't get to see what the health inspector does.
The Bottom Line: I am pleased that the older location is closed. This building is new and clean. Hopefully they can keep the grades up.

| Susie-34668's Full Review: Long John Silver's |
Long John Silver's has always been a fast food place for my husband and I, when we haven't had the time to spend in a full service restaurant.
Tonight we wished we had stayed at home.
Having owned restaurants ourselves, we tend to check everything out. The first thing we saw, on the wall, was the grading. Here is Pasco county, Florida, we have an A.B.C. etc ratings. I can honestly say I have never seen a B before, but there it was on the wall.
Half of me wanted to leave and the other half wanted to know the problem.
By the time we got to the counter, we were served by a member of the Management staff :).
"What happened" we said, "to get a B rating". The women opposite us just had no idea what to say. "Some boxes were up the wrong way".
"Okay" I said, "But you lost 20 points". She looked totally lost.
We told her that both of us are Florida Food Managers, and hold certificates. Her response to this was. "The Manager didn't have his card on him". Right, they lost 1 point for that. She finally turned to another staff member and thought it might have been that the employees had cups with no lids on.
We did order and I watched the food coming out of the window. I have never had a problem with the food. Always hot. Batter crispy. Fries need salt, but that is my choice. However, I was concerned how a restaurant could stay open, have lots of customers, and have numerous health problems.
I checked my food carefully before I ate it and as usual, was good.
So what am I going to do now. Well on the wall was a banner. It read....
"Our promise at Long John Silver's is to provide each guest, the greatest dining experience possible. If you have any comments or suggestions feel free to call. Manager - Nedal ***** at 727- ***** or Corp. Edward ***** at 813- *****. So you all know what I am going to do once I finish writing this.
For people that do not know Long John Silver's they have a really inexpensive menu. We were given coupons while we were there.
Chicken Lover's Platter $3.99 these prices are with a coupon.
Any Variety Platter $4.59
99 cents kid's meal
$10.99 family meal
LJS Sampler $2.99
Fish and more $2.99
Shrimp and more $3.99
99 cents Fish sandwich.
They also have an all you can eat fish, chicken, coleslaw and hushpuppies for $5.99.
There are two salads on the menu for people watching the fat content, which is high in all the over items.
They do have desserts, which I have not tried.
Will I go back. Yes, it is the only one close to home. However, I will check out the grading before doing so :-))
Food:The nearest to English fish and chips I have found.
Service:The service is always average. They pay minimum wages or just above and it shows.
Decor:Just like any other fast food chain. Nothing special.
Special Notes, Tips or Menu Recommendations:We sometimes use the take out option. Nice to be able to sit in the comfort of your home and enjoy the meal.
My husband and I decided to try our luck again with this fast food restaurant. It now has an A rating. Big, bold and beautiful. An A ranges from 85 to 100 points. They had attained a 96. I am impressed.
The food looked appealing, was hot and plentiful. This is why I am changing my recommendation. If the employees took the time and effect to improve our dining experience, I certainly want to share it with you.
Up-dated April 7th, 2005.
This older building is now closed. We have one of the new split restaurant locations. It is an AW and Long John Silver's restaurant. It is situated in our Wal-Mart Superstore complex, so is always jamming.
The prices have gone up since I wrote my review, but we get coupons in our Sunday newpaper each week. It basically brings the prices back to the 2,000 ones. We even get a senior meal for $1.99 including a drink. The only problem I have with this is, they don't make decaf coffee. I don't drink soda, so end up having lemonade or water instead.
Being new the restaurant is clean and I don't have to worry about the health department's report.
Thank you so much for coming by.
Susie.
