| ilovejohn's Full Review: Panera Bread |
A roommate and her mother took me out to eat at a Panera bread and I was impressed. I ordered a regular salad which I found out is a meal in itself at this place. Not knowing that, I also tried the soup of the day. I sampled it first in a little container and it impressed me that not only was it good but this place gives out free samples.---------- The soup of the day when I went was chicken and broccoli or chicken in chilli. I had never heard of chicken in chilli before but I opted to taste it. That was what I ordered along with the salad. The chicken in chilli soup came in a freshly made bread bowl. I came away feeling impressed but not until I had ordered an icy cappucino to take back to the dorm with me. -----------------------------------------------------The atmosphere was a mix between restaurant style (the real kind not fast food) and coffeehouse cafe. There was soft music playing in the background and seating in this particular location was either in a booth or dinner tables. In the front, a counter stood alone where you could order bagels and breads or coffee. The coffee was self serve. There was a separate station where you could choose the style of coffee that you wanted. I sampled the Irish Creme and it was also very tasty. Along the side wall was a station where you could order your sandwiches and soup. You were given a number and had to go back to get your food when your number was called.-----------------------------------------------------I came away from the experience relaxed and wanting to return many, many times. -----------------------------------------------------As for the food, the taste is wonderful. If you're not sure that you will like the soup of the day, just ask and they may be happy to provide with a free sample. The sandwiches are served on freshly made bread and coffee is brewed fresh several times a day. If you have never tried Panera bread, you are missing out! Go out and treat yourself.
Special Notes, Tips or Menu Recommendations: I recommend the chicken chill in a soup bowl. It's spicy and filling.
