Papa John's Pizza, Not Bad for a Chain

Living in NY I believe I have the best available pizza in the country. Once in a while though my family will send for a delivery order from a couple of chains. I told them to please never ask for Domino's again but Papa John's is another story. It's pretty good pizza.
They are still a fast growing chain and display as a logo, "Better Ingredients, Better Pizza"
Atmosphere
Our place happens to have a few chairs. I believe these are more for waiting for your take-out order rather than a place to sit and eat.
The place is clean and the pizza makers and counter persons are attentive. I like the fact that I am "recognized" as soon as I walk in the door. Nothing bothers me more than to be standing at a counter and no one has the sense opr courtesy to say, "Hello" or "I'll be right with you".
The very few times I have been inside our place, just five minutes away, I've noticed the management has the current coupons on the counter. More about them later.
Pappa John's Pizza
I happen to like their pies. What I particularly like is the fact that in our place we can order the original or the Thin Crust style. I happen to like a crispy thin crust and theirs is good. I don't care for the regular that is just a bit to soft and chewy for me.
The sauce they use is excellent and is the best part of their pizzas. They aren't skimpy with it either. It tastes like it has good quality ingredients in it.
I also like the cheese they use. It tastes fresh and has a good flavour.
As far as toppings go Papa John's doesn't hold back with the toppings, yes they charge you for additional toppings but certainly give you your money's worth.
Beside toppings they have special pizzas on their menu such as Spinach Alfredo, Grilled Chicken Alfredo, Hawaiian Barbeque Chicken ( One I like. I never would have thought I would like pineapple on a pizza), and more specialty pies.
Prices
Having the coupons makes this a place to go to because you know you'll get a good deal. We get coupons regularly in the mail too. Papa John's has three sizes in their pizza. A popular pie is "The Works". It has Pepperoni, Ham, Onions, Spicy sausage, Mushrooms, Green Peppers, and Black Olives. On Long Island these are priced at Small, $12.99, Large, $14.99 and XLarge, $16.99. These happen to be just as much if not more than some of our regular mom and pop pizza places nearby. Coupon's do help though you may not always find a coupon for the type of pizza of the day.
The latest coupon offers Two Small Pies two toppings $12.99. Another is the "Double Deal" Two large, Three topping pizzas for $17.99. Also discounted with the coupon is "Papa's Pak. This is three large Cheese Pizzas for $21.99. They offer either the original or the Thin Crust for that price. The thin crust is offered in many of their specials.
There are other offerings too and it's easy to see the coupons help make this pizza a good value.
More than Just Pizza
Pappa John's offers Buffalo Wings, and Chipotle BBQ Wings. I happen to like the Buffalo Wings that come with Blue cheese (that's what I like) or Ranch Sauce. For those who like a white chicken meat Pappa John's has Papas Chicken Strips that I have tried and are moist and flavorful.
Other add-ons include Bread Sticks and Cheese Sticks
Coke products including Sprite are in a refrigerator and are often included in some of the coupon specials.
Delivery
Papa John's delivers free in our area, probably the same everywhere. We can count on the pies being delivered hot after being taken out of the insulated green bag the driver comes to the door with. We expect to wait between 25-45 minutes. Never sooner and sometimes a bit longer. Though we are just five minutes away, we usually get it delivered. I'm not the one ordering. It's usually my daughters. Their Papa, once home from work, does not like to go to Papa's for a pick-up. I would rather give the delivery guy a few bucks than to get off my fat ...
Maybe I shouldn't be eating so many of these pies.
