The Papa John's Story
"As a high school student working at a local pizza pub in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Papa John's founder John Schnatter realized that there was something missing from national pizza chains: a superior-quality traditional pizza delivered to the customer's door. His dream was to one day open a pizza restaurant that would fill that void.
In 1984, "Papa" John Schnatter knocked out a broom closet located in the back of his father's tavern (Mick's Lounge), sold his prized 1971 Z28 Camaro, purchased $1,600 worth of used restaurant equipment, and began selling his pizzas to the tavern's customers. The customers loved the pizza so much that John was able to expand by moving into adjoining space, eventually leading to the opening of the first Papa John's restaurant in 1985.
Today, Papa John's boasts nearly 3000 restaurants in 49 states and nine international markets. Papa John's also owns or franchises an additional 150 Perfect Pizza restaurants in the United Kingdom." (from www.papajohns.com)
I know that the Papa John's Story is a bit lengthy, but I think how the company started from a broom closet to where they are today is amazing! Papa John's is known for its premium ingredients and its determination to stick to the basics - breadsticks and pizza. You won't find any subs, chicken wings or cinnasticks on this menu!

MY EXPERIENCE
What makes Papa John's So Good?
Well, where do I start? First, I like how the menu is simple. I order Papa John's because I want traditional Pizza and Breadsticks. I feel like other Pizza chains (such as Pizza Hut) have attempted a new Pizza Pitch every month or so and have now put cheese into every possible orifice of a pizza!
The sauce used in Papa John's pizza is unique, I cannot describe the taste other than fresh and different from that of other pizza chains. The crust and cheese taste excellent and are less greasy than most Domino's and Pizza Hut pizzas I have tasted. I hate how I have to blot the grease off of some of the crusts of other pizzas!! This is not the case with Papa John's.
One of the main reasons I choose Papa John's over other pizza chains is the Breadsticks!! They are very doughy and filling, not greasy at all. The breadsticks come with three wonderful dipping sauces: Pizza, Garlic and Cheese. I love the Breadtsicks because they have a very plain taste and then you choose the flavor with the sauces! The Cheesesticks are also great, but are basically just sticks of pizza.
The pizza also comes with hot peppers and the garlic dipping sauce, a very unique combination! The garlic sauce is great for those leftover crusts and is basically garlic butter..yum!
Nutritional Info and Cost
Everyone knows that pizza is not very healthy. Oil, dough, sauce and cheese is not exactly the best combo for you, but hey..that doesn't stop me! One slice of a large Papa John's Original Crust Cheese Pizza has 283 Calories and 10 grams of fat. This is pretty average for pizza.
Papa John's always had coupons so keep an eye out for them. Their prices are reasonable and they always have specials going. For example, right now get free cheesesticks when you order a one topping large pizza for $9.99.
Customer Service
In my experience, I have always dealt with friendly employees and most of my orders have been received on time. However, I think that customer service depends on your local branch of Papa John's. For the most part though, I feel that they hire qualified employees.
On the Papa John's website, you can order a pizza online, however, I am not sure if this works for all locations. The website is a great resource and lists the full menu as well as nutritional information and franchise locations.
