| pablothegreat's Full Review: Pizza Hut |
Pizza Hut has ruined my healthy eating diet more than once! Pizza cravings are my downfall. With our small family, ordering a pizza will result in leftovers too making it budget friendly. My daughter is a very picky eater and this is one meal that we both enjoy. One wonderful thing about Pizza Hut is that it has been available in all of the states that I have lived in and traveled through. As a young adult, I worked in a Pizza Hut for a short time making really bad tips....not a good idea for anyone trying to lose weight or stay fit!
Customer service:
We have seen really bad customer service and really good customer service during the many times we have eaten in Pizza Huts. The bad customer service came from teenagers waiting tables. The front desk (picking up your pizza for carryout) usually has better service than sitting down to eat in a Pizza Hut where all of the workers are very young. The younger waiters and waittresses were slow to arrive at our table for our order and slow to bring our food out, then never came back to the table for refills. The good customer service came from restaurants with fewer teenagers working the front and service was fantastic. So quick that we never had to wave down a waiter for a refill or anything else. A couple of times I have had issues with no one being at the front so I could pick up my pizza as well as the front person being on the phone taking an order so I had to wait to pick up my pizza for carryout.
Inside of the restaurant:
The atmosphere in Pizza Huts is a dim front area filled with booths around the outer edges of the front and tables with chairs in the middle. Some restaurants will have salad and food bars in the front of the room but I have heard that this is being discontinued. Pizza Hut has a jukebox with game machines near the restrooms. The restrooms usually have a line waiting on busy days but are clean for the most part. I have never been disgusted by a dirty restroom yet in a Pizza Hut. Fridays and Saturdays are usually very busy and can be crowded especially in the evening hours. We have never went and had to wait to be seated though. The noise level is just a lot louder at those times but service has always been adequate with no long wait times for food unless there are teenagers working.
Delivery:
I have never been put on hold when I called to order a pizza. Ordering was done quickly and paying with a credit card or debit card over the phone happened fast which surprised me. Delivery can take as little as 30 minutes to 1 1/2 hours or more on really busy nights. One major issue is the delivery person forgetting the sides, drinks, or garlic sauce dip. Pizza Hut does accept personal checks too. In some areas, a small delivery charge (about $2.00) is added onto to your order. Our order was always piping hot..sometimes a bit too hot! Never have I received a pizza that had slid around and the topping misplaced from Pizza Hut as other delivery pizza places. I have only had to call and return a pizza once when mushrooms were on it and we do not do mushrooms.
The food:
Different areas will have different items including toppings. Order a pizza with everything/supreme and get everything plus anchovies in some areas!! So always ask or tell them no anchovies if this grosses you out like us. The one time we got a pizza with anchovies on it, it made us a bit sick and turned off at eating a pizza.
Pizza Hut offers new styles of pizzas at times and then will discontinue those styles which displeases the people who fell in love with those unique pizzas. Such as the Triple Decker pizza which had layers of thin crust pizza and layers of ooey gooey cheeses. My sister and I still miss it and think of it fondly from time to time. It was our all time favorite style of pizza!
The salad bar has not only salad toppings but fruit, sunflower seeds, bacon bits, cauliflower, broccoli, puddings, and a few salad dressings. Some restaurants have hot foods on the bar too like the delicious catatini that I miss so much! We would go in and just order the all you could eat buffet and eat the pasta and salad. A side salad can be ordered for a one time trip to the salad bar.
Cheesesticks and breadsticks are the best at Pizza Hut. Fresh, right out of the oven breadsticks are a soft buttery tasty treat. Just the smell of them will make you say yummm. The cheesesticks are good according to who prepares them, at times they have no cheese on them at all and are tasteless. Other times, they have tons of cheese and melt in your mouth!
They also have hot wings which we do not eat and garlic bread which we rarely order from here. Some places have a fruity dessert pizza which I did not like to start with but it has grown on me. A pizza crust filled with piping hot apple or cherry fruit and fruit filling with cream cheese icing. Some places will have the new potato bits and others might have jalepeno bites.
One of our favorite pizzas is the Cheese Lovers. On this type you get extra cheese and two toppings of your choice in a pan pizza crust. Combine this with the Stuffed Crust pizza and you have the perfect combo. The stuffed crust offers even more ooey gooey cheese in the crust of the pizza!
You have many choices at Pizza Hut to make before ordering. First you choose the type of crust that you want: personal pan, pan, stuffed crust, or hand tossed (thin). I love personal pan pizzas and this style actually seems to taste better than any other pizza!! These are about big as your hand and will fill one person up.
Then you choose which toppings you want on your pizza: bacon, pepperoni, pork, italian sausage, hamburger, chicken, ham, anchovies (in some locations), green or black olives, banana or green peppers, jalepenos, tomatoes, red onions, mushrooms, and pineapple. Then you have a choice of specialty pizzas which can change from time to time if any are discontinued, these include meat lovers, pepperoni lovers, super supreme, veggie lovers, pizza mia, and others. Desserts vary from location to location dessert fruit pizzas, chocolate dunkers, and cinnamon sticks.
The pizzas taste fresh, the crust is perfect, and you will never get bubbles in your pizza like at other pizza restaurants!! Most pizza places have horrible hard crusts that we usually throw away but at Pizza Hut, their crust is edible and yummy! Really my only complaints are that they do not put their pepperoni on top of the cheese as I like my pepperoni on top or POT as their abbreviation goes when customers request it. And that they skimp on cheese and black olives in some locations. When I request black olives, I want more than three please. If I order cheese sticks, I want cheese on my breadsticks!
The drinks:
No coke products are offered at Pizza Hut, only Pepsi products. It is bad when I want Pizza Hut pizza but think about another pizza place just because they have Diet Coke available! Bottled water is offered too. No juice is available for children.
My final say on Pizza Hut? My favorite place to get a pizza and I am thankful for so many locations in so many states! Missing the triple decker pizza that was discontinued!! The best pizza ever made and they no longer have it. Good pizza, good crust, Cheeselovers option, but they need to have Coke products as most people drink Coke not Pepsi!
What is so good about THIS restaurant?
Great atmosphere, not crowded except on weekends, delivery late at night, tasty pizza options
What is unique about this restaurant?
All you can eat bar at some locations, Cheeselovers specialty pizza, Stuffed Crust pizza
Is it worth the price?
More expensive than other pizza restaurants....but they only have the Stuffed Crust Cheeselovers pizza!
There has to be some bad to this restaurant, right?
More expensive pizza, no coke products, discontinued triple decker pizza, not the healthiest lunch or dinner.
Any warnings people should be aware of?
None that I have found.
Final verdict:
My final say on Pizza Hut? My favorite place to get a pizza and I am thankful for so many locations in so many states! Missing the triple decker pizza that was discontinued!! The best pizza ever made and they no longer have it. Good pizza, good crust, Cheeselovers option, but they need to have Coke products as most people drink Coke not Pepsi!
