My husband and I have different tastes in pizza. He likes thick crust. I like thin. He likes pepperoni. I don’t. So what do we do when we want pizza? We go to Pizza Inn, and get the buffet.


The Buffet

I remember when the buffet was only available on Saturday afternoon, and usually 1 night during the week. Now you can find the buffet bar open from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12:00-3:00 p.m. on Sundays. The buffet offers a great variety. It’s best to go during busier times. If there’s a lot of people eating, there’s a lot more pizza coming out. If there’s not a lot of people grabbing up the stuff there, you ’re likely to get some less-than-hot pizza. The buffet costs $6.50 per person in the evening. It’s a little less at lunch time.


Pizza

The buffet includes most basic types of pizza. You can always find cheese, pepperoni, ham, and sausage. You can usually find any one of these meats combined with peppers, onions and mushrooms on thick or thin crust. My favorite is the taco pizza. The sauce is salsa-like, with shredded cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. A close second would be the cheeseburger pizza. It’s basically a slice of hamburger pizza with added mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato. It doesn’t really sound too appealing to slather mayo on a slice of pizza, but it’s really good. All of these pizzas are available in whole pies for delivery or eat-in.


Salad Bar

I think Pizza Inn has a better salad bar than most other pizza places. Most pizza joints will have little more than lettuce, carrots, cheese, and salad dressing on the bar. Pizza Inn also has cucumbers, peppers, pickles, chunks of ham, and other vegetables that I can’t name. The salad items are always well stocked, and taste fresh. You can get nearly any type of dressing including low-fat ranch.


Other Stuff

In addition to pizza and salad, the Pizza Inn buffet includes pasta noodles with your choice of meat or tomato sauce. I love to get the pasta salad. They usually make it with pepperoni or ham. Occasionally you can find hot wings on the buffet. They aren’t best wings around. They’re pretty similar to Pizza Hut’s hot wings.


Dessert Pizza

I don’t really care much for dessert pizza. The only dessert pizzas I’ve ever found were either chocolate, vanilla, apple, or cherry. The vanilla and chocolate seem to be nothing more than pudding spread across pizza dough and baked. The apple and cherry filling is similar to the filling one would find in a McDonald’s pie. Pizza Inn does have one unique dessert, though. The dessert stromboli. It’s like any other stromboli, only it has sweet ingredients. It has a gooey filling with chopped nuts, cinnamon, and other tasty goodness. The topped is covered with a donut-like glaze. It’s just scrumptious. The stromboli goes so quick, you almost always have to ask for it. Usually, the server will bring some directly to your table if you ask.


Overall

It’s pretty good pizza for the money. I would recommend the buffet so everyone can get their favorite.
