Ponderosa may be best known as an inexpensive steakhouse, but on Sunday morning, they do a great breakfast buffet!
The usual scrambled eggs can be embellished with their tasty hot cheese sauce, or try the "farmer style" omelet with potatoes. They make Belgian waffles and French toast right at the serving area, to make sure they're hot and fresh. Top them with butter and hot syrup or cherry or strawberry sauce. Ham, bacon, sausage. Make your own taco, if you like a little spice in your morning! Or put the creamed sausage on a hot flaky biscuit.
Homemade danish, hot biscuits, cinnamon buns, and wonderful fresh nut or raisin bread. Lots of fresh fruit. Cereal is also available. If you have a sweet tooth, the same dessert bar and ice cream sundae bar as served at dinner are open, as well.
A friendly server will keep your coffee cup full, or bring tea, milk, or soda refills, while clearing plates to leave room for second (and third?) trips to the buffet.
The price may vary by location, but here we pay about $12 for two including coffees, less after the senior's discount. Smoking and non-smoking sections are on opposite ends of the large dining room, separated by the buffet area.
Come as you are, casual dress and kids are welcome. (Kids will be given a balloon.)
But come fairly early! They change the buffet over to lunch service at 11:00!
Food is fresh, hot, and good. Not fancy, but hearty.
Mostly young people, service has always been polite and attentive. Once, when they ran out of a few food items on a VERY busy Father's Day, the manager gave a free breakfast certificate to anyone who asked.
Spacious, comfortable, clean and bright. Silk flowers on each table. Tables & booths well spaced. You can have several tables put together for a larger group.
