Two Quizno’s restaurants have opened up in my town within the past couple of years. Since we haven’t eaten there yet, my husband and I thought we’d give it a try.
Cramped Quarters
I haven’t been in any other Quizno’s restaurant. This particular restaurant is located in the middle of a shopping center, and is rather small and narrow. We had to walk across the dining area to get to the counter. Then, we had to walk to the far end of the counter to order because the pick-up area was on the end closer to the door. There isn’t a lot of space between the wall and counter, and the counter is packed full of chips, salads, and cookies. You practically have to yell your order across the counter since it’s impossible to get near it. The restaurant was very clean, and nicely decorated with plants, and a few small pictures. There were exactly 7 tables available for dining inside, 3 of which were tall, round bar tables.
Subs
Quizno’s has many subs available in 3 different sizes; small, regular, and large. The prices range from around $3.89 for a small sub, $4.99 for a regular, and $6.99 for a large. The prices may be a little more depending on what kind of sub you order, but it won’t be much more than a 20 cent difference. They have 6 “signature” subs, which include the Classic Italian, The Traditional, Turkey Bacon Guacamole, Black Angus Steak, Mesquite Chicken with Bacon, and a Honey Bacon Club. There are about twice as many “classic” subs. These come available with roast beef, ham, turkey, BLT, veggie, meatball, etc. Every sub comes with cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, some type of dressing, and Quizno’s special secret blend of spices. The subs are prepared to order, so if you don’t want any of these toppings, then just let them know. Unlike other sub places, namely Subway, the subs here are heated. Once you place your order at the order-end of the counter, they add the cheese and meat, then place the sub in the oven. The sub seems to move on a conveyor belt to the pick-up end of the counter. At this point, they add the cold toppings. The sandwiches actually look like the mouth-watering pictures you see up on the menu board.
Other Stuff
In addition to subs, they have a variety of salads that are prepared fresh daily, and packed into a plastic container. I saw a couple on the counter, and they must have been made fresh much earlier in the day. If you like sour dough bread, you might want to try their chili or soup. Why you ask? The chili and soup are served in a sour dough bread bowl. It looks like a neat little concoction, but I wasn’t that brave. Pies, cobblers, and cookies are available for dessert. I haven’t tried the pies or cookies, but I have tried their classic peanut butter cookie. It might as well have been called a “peanut” cookie. Drinks are unlimited when dining inside, unless you purchase a bottled drink.
Catering
If you have to have a big sandwich for all your parties and get-togethers, Quizno’s can cater to your needs. They have party subs served on boards or platters for any event. You can get up to a 6 foot sub for $55 that will feed about 18 people.
They also have lunch boxes available. Just call ahead for a sub box, unless you prefer soup or salad. Each box lunch comes with a chocolate chip cookie. The sub box comes with chips. The boxed lunches can be yours for roughly $5-$6.
Recommendation
If you want a heated sandwich, but not heated lettuce, tomato, etc, then Quizno’s is a pretty good place for subs. No matter how big your appetite, they have just the right size sub for you. If you like “peanut” cookies, then you definitely don’t want to pass this one up!
