Of course you know that I am a fan of Red Lobster as you read in my review. One of the best restaurants? Of course not. But the one we have down here in Boca Raton is pretty good as was the one we had up in Conn. I have a friend from a very patrician Swiss family who has traveled the world who proclaims it his favorite restaurant bar none. No accounting for tastes I guess. Expensive? Not in my book. In 2006 a meal for between $13 and $20 seems pretty moderate to me. But this is again an individual matter.

I cannot stand Red Lobster; the only good thing in the restaurant is the cheesy biscuits! Most of my experiences at the dinning facility have been negative, but I am glad that you enjoyed yourself. Great review as always!

When I lived in Parma Hts., Ohio (Reply to this comment)

my daughter-in-law and I visited Red Lobster probably about once a week. The food there was fantastic, although we could never get my husband to come with us except for one time when he felt the food was over priced and not too good.

Then when my daughter and I lived in Greenville, N.C. the Red Lobster was dreadful. Of course, that was in keeping with almost everything else in that miserable city. I think it depends a lot on individual management - perhaps some people should never opt to run a francise.

My imagination got carried away with a small typo...
If there is a huge crown present, it can take time to get your food served. But other than that, my experience with customer service has been positive.

I can just picture the servers having wo work their way around this huge crown so they can get to you. Ha, ha.

I just wish seafood didn't have so much cholesterol so I could go here more often. It's a fairly good restaurant and your review did it justice.

Darden (Reply to this comment)

Darden who also runs Olive Garden (you can usually find an Olive Garden pretty close by to a Red Lobster), Smokey Bones, Bahama Breeze, and a new concept called Seasons 52 pretty much cater to the masses. Bahama Breeze used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I reviewed one several years ago. I went there not long ago while on a business trip back to Orlando and I found it disappointing. I'm not sure you'll find consistency and/or really great food in any of Darden's restaurants.

Yes, that is the key problem with Red Lobster: Inconsistency. If I had to rate individual locations, they would cover everything from one star to five stars. You never know what you're going to get with this restaurant, and that is the main reason I had to lower my rating to three stars, even though I admit the location nearest to me is worthy of four stars.

I went to a Red Lobster in Brockton Ma, My son and I both got what seemed to be frozen food entres from the local grocer reheated. The decor was depressing, the food was not good, and the service was so so. I am glad to hear that perhaps this was just an anomaly in the chain, because we would never go back.
