| bigtrouble54's Full Review: Red Lobster |
Well, here I am again. It's July 18, 2001, and I am 47 years old today! Last year I was in Florida and wrote a review about my dinner out. This year I am in New Jersey and it seems this is going to become a yearly habit for me. Birthday...dinner out...come home and write an opinion on where I ate.
This year my choice was Red Lobster. My daughter asked where I wanted to go and this was my choice. The last time we went to Red Lobster, I ordered a steak...what an idiot! Today I wanted seafood and I got my fill and then some.
The Red Lobster she took me to is a new one in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. It wasn't like all the others I have been in...this one is brand new, very clean, and believe it or not, all the people who work there are friendly! That was amazing to me because, no offense meant to anyone from New Jersey, but it has been my experience that there are no friendly people in New Jersey!
Anyway, when we arrived, there was quite a waiting list. We wanted the smoking section and the lady told us there would be about a 45 minute wait. We told her that was fine, took our beeper, and went to the bar for a drink. We were only there for about 10 minutes before our beeper went off telling us our table was ready...so far so good.
The hostess seated us and our waiter, Orlando, showed up right on time. He introduced himself with a big smile and asked if he could get us drinks, but we already had one, so he said he would give us a few minutes with the menu, he excused himself with a smile, and went on his way.
I was having a problem deciding what to order because I really wanted a lobster, but everything else looked good too! I noticed the platter they offered that had shrimp scampi, fried shrimp, crab legs, and a lobster tail...that was it for me! Jaime couldn't decide on anything so she made up her own platter from the list. She ordered stuffed flounder and shrimp scampi.
Orlando came back, took our order with a big smile, asked about our salad choices, and potato choices, and again he was off! Of course before he left us, my daughter felt it necessary to tell him it was my birthday...here we go again...more public embarrassment...just what we all need...right?
We waited about ten minutes for our food to arrive. It looked good and smelled good, and boy oh boy did it taste good! I was very impressed!
My platter cost $18.99, but considering the amount of food on that plate, it was a bargain! My daughter's combination cost only $13.50...not bad, not bad at all!
Of course, about half way through dinner as I was struggling to get the meat out of a crab leg, the happy birthday brigade showed up and began to sing. I'm sitting there with a crab leg hanging out of my mouth and they are singing to me! I called them the birthday brigade because their rendition of happy birthday was more like a basic training march chant...it was different...I was embarrassed...they did their job!
We finished our dinner, my daughter paid the bill and gave Orlando a hefty tip because he was worth it! He was very attentive and didn't miss a beat!
Tonight was by far the best experience I've ever had with Red Lobster! If you are ever in the neighborhood of Cherry Hill New Jersey, and have a craving for seafood, please stop in and check this new Red Lobster out! Ask for Orlando, he'll do a great job of serving you!
