| michellebaril's Full Review: Ryan's |
Ryan's came to my hometown about six years ago. It was a very hot place from the start. Many days you would have to wait an hour for a seat, this was a given on the weekends.
The prices have stayed the same over the years, which I always thought was a bit pricey. Adults buffet is about nine dollars after taxes and this does not include the beverage. Children two and under eat free and children eat for about five dollars (not including beverage). Senior citizens get a discount of ten percent.
When ordering you can choose from the bar or ordering something from the menu. Ryan's offers steak, chicken, hamburgers, and a variety of other foods from the menu.
Food: The food was very tasty at first, but now if you do not go at a peek time (around noon are around six in the afternoon) the food is sometimes cold or water logged from sitting there so long. There are many foods to choose from like homemade vegetables, a section of fresh meat,a pizza bar, a soup bar, and a dessert bar. The dessert bar is very good because it offers sugar-free treats which are very helpful for diabetics. Not many places offer this.
My dad hates that the fresh meat bar has a server to cut it. The server only cuts slivers. I know Ryan's does this to cut down on waste, but if an adult pays almost ten dollars for a meal you would think that you could 'eat all that you wanted'.
The good think is that Ryan's is vegetarian friendly which is important to our family. My sister is a vegetarian and it is hard to find a place she can eat without ordering the meat on the side. She really loves the salad bar, if the lettuce is not wilted like it often time is.
Service: When Ryan's first opened in my local area the service was great. The servers were nice and friendly. You would never have an empty glass and the empty plates where moved away soon after you where finished. Now you have to run down a server for more tea and stack the empty plate (which makes you feel like somewhat of a pig).
Decor: I never really cared for the decor. The tables are bare with now center pieces and the the tables really seem crowded. The colors are really dull also. Dark maroon and gray are just to blah for a restaurant.
