Could you possibly charge me more?

Pros:Tastes good...
Cons:Can't afford the coffee - much less a refill.

Starbucks tastes good... right? Or are you just thinking that you taste something good because you paid five bucks for it?

When I go to Starbucks, I try to keep it simple. It seems that every extra syllable in the name adds $0.75 to the overall price. One of the Star Bucks near my house can't even keep track of how much everything costs. One day a large regular mocha will cost $4.25, and then the next it will only be $3.95. It seems they should spend a little extra time and money on training their workers!

How much can coffee cost anyway? It's coffee - with flavouring. You can get any of that flavoring (and you can see it behind the counters) at Costco for less than $10. So, you mix in some coffee, and some flavoring... and you come up with a five dollar drink! This is absurd mark up. When I worked at Great Canadian Bagel (there's also the American version, in the states.) I did some research on their coffee prices. The only mark up that beats a coffee price, is popcorn and butter at a movie theatre. It's just corn, people.

I sometimes wonder, if people were to market better (look at me talk, Star Bucks makes millions and millions of dollars, and I'm telling them to market better...) anyway, if people were to market better, they might make some more sales. I'm on a budget, so I rarely go to Starbucks anymore. If they were only two or three dollars a cup, I would probably go more often. But when you double the price for a similar cup of Joe, it makes more people clutch their purses.

Quickie fact.
Did you know that when Bill Gates lost all that money, there was an article about it in the Vancouver newspaper. (there are about 5 million people in B.C.) It said pretty much this: for the amount of money Bill Gates lost, he could have bought everyone in BC an expensive starbucks coffee, and a pastry of their choice, every three seconds for a full 24 hours.

Can you imagine? That's a lot of money! And Starbucks is so expensive!

Even though it's absurdly expensive, I think that Starbucks tastes great... I don't think it's the five dollar bill talking, either.
