Pros: Better than other sub restaurants
Cons: Limited Selection; Very few locations
Submarine sandwiches are a nice alternative every now and then, to the usual burger and fries that you get at most fast- food establishments. Super Subby?s is a small chain of sub restaurants, headquartered in Dayton, Ohio. This chain has a total of just 17 locations, and they are all located in the Dayton metropolitan area.
Aside from the subs, Subby?s has a limited menu selection, which is common among submarine sandwich restaurants. Subby?s does offer a large selection of subs, with about 30 to choose from. They have the usual selections that you expect in a sub restaurant, like ham, chicken, beef, turkey, steak, meatball, etc. With each sub, you can choose from a list of standard toppings, like lettuce, tomato, mayo, oil, onion, spices, banana peppers, etc. They also have three different buns to choose from- white, wheat, or rye- and you can request that your bun be heated first, if you like.
Along with the subs, you can also order salads, chili, and a few side dishes, as well as a special meal for kids. There are seven Subby?s salads: Italian Salad, Grilled Chicken Salad, Tuna Salad, Cheese Salad, Egg Salad, Subby?s Salad, and Subby?s Super Salad. The salads are all pretty large, and many people choose to eat a salad as their main course.
Subby?s chili is served in either small or large sizes (1 or 2 servings) and you can request to have cheese and/or mushrooms added, for more flavor. The chili is a little on the spicy side, so don?t order it if you prefer mild. The spiciness is medium, which is just right for most people.
As for the side dishes, Subby?s offers cheesesticks, french fries, onion rings, mushrooms, chips, and pickles. Some locations also have a freezer, with ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches, popsicles, etc. There?s a kid?s meal, too, which features a small sub, along with chips, a small drink, and a cookie.
If you?re of the vegetarian persuasion, there are only a few options for you, at Subby?s. The only meatless sub is the veggie sub, but four of the salads (egg, cheese, Italian, and Subby?s) are meatless and, of course, all of the side dishes are meatless.
Sub restaurants are not known for their attractive, lively atmosphere, and Subby?s is no exception! The restaurant interior is a little larger than some of the better- known chains (like Subway) but there is nothing, as far as atmosphere goes. It?s just a place to eat and run. When I go to Subby?s, I usually get my food to go.
Subby?s is a pretty good sub restaurant chain, and I think the food is better tasting than others, like Subway. I have found that small, lesser- known restaurant chains, like Subby?s, usually offer fresher- tasting food than the large, established chains.
Subs are a nice alternative to burgers, and they offer a better nutritional value, without all the grease and fat that you find in other fast- food. Subby?s is worth sampling, if you happen to be in the Dayton, Ohio area. I don?t know if the Subby?s ownership has any immediate plans to expand, and become a national chain, but the quality of the food is very good and they could easily compete with the big boys, like Subway and Blimpie. Stop by Subby?s, if you get the chance. The subs, salads, and chili are all very good!
