As a former employee of two separate restaurants in Iowa, I can honestly say that Taco John's is a direct rip-off of Taco Bell. The main difference would be names of items and prices. Taco Bell has a lot more to offer, along with a better price. After living off the greasy food for more than a year, I had finally had enough. You tend to eat alot of a food that is free. Although Taco John's restaurants differ all over the US, the idea is the same....selling cheap imitations of mexican food. When was the last time someone in Mexico eat a meat and potatoe burrito? For those of you who have never had the pleasure of this menu item, it is meat, potatoe oles, sour cream, green onions, tomatoes, and lettis, all rolled up in a soft shell. And there other items - fiesta chicken (chick flavored something that I don't think is chicken) and steak strips (beef flavored fiesta chicken) are nothing to leave the safty of Taco Bell for. Plus who can resist that dog?
So if you come to a decision between Taco Bell and Taco John's - go with the one that has better food for the price (and more of it, I may add)....Taco Bell.
The service differs ....all depends on the restaurant and the area.
Nothing Mexican about it....except maybe the guy on the sign.
Special Notes, Tips or Menu Recommendations:
If you must eat here, stick with the tacos and softshells.
