Pros: Good food, great steaks, fast service and peanuts!
Cons: too loud around bar sometimes, but overall a good place
Being from Texas, when Texas Roadhouse rolled into town I was wondering if it would be Texan enough for our area. After visiting Texas Roadhouse a few times I realized that it was indeed Texan enough. This place has a great atmosphere all around with steaks galore, big drinks and complimentary PEANUTS!! Always a positive in the state of Texas.
So How Is The Food?
Having visited Texas Roadhouse several times, I can say that I have tried lots of items on the menu. First off there are several different appetizers. The Cactus Blossom which is your run of the mill onion blossom that can be found everywhere these days is decent about the same as anywhere. The Rattlesnake Bites are where its at. These battered & fried bits of jalapenos & cheese are AWESOME. We order these every single time we visit Texas Roadhouse. Lots of other options to choose from like cheese fries, potato skins, combo plates with a handful of everything and buffalo wings. Deep appetizer menu, which means you can grab a cold drink and snack with some friends.
Now on to the entrees. There are about 10 different steaks to choose from, which is a plus for a steak lovers. Your normal cuts are available: sirloins, New York strips, t-bone, ribeye, chopped steak and prime rib just to name a few. I personally LOVE the ribeye cooked at medium. Very juicy if cooked right and tender also. I suggest that for someone with a good appetite, sirloins for those watching their figure. The New York strip is good, but could be better I dont know if it was the cut of beef itself or the way it was cooked. I have had great New York strip steaks, but I would stick to the ribeye or the sirloin at Texas Roadhouse. Of course the t-bone is killer, my husband gets this sometimes but honestly, it is so big it is ridiculous. Never had the prime rib, but if it is along the lines of the other steaks, you should definitely try it. I have had a few problems with how my steak was cooked from time to time at Texas Roadhouse but that is about the same with any chain restaurant. Any given day you could be given an overcooked/undercooked steak. They did take the steak back and fix it for me, so I cannot hold it against them.
Along with steaks Texas Roadhouse has top notch ribs. Or Fall off the bone ribs I might add. You can order a full or half order and I can vouch for them that they are indeed fall off the bone ribs. So good, and if you are a bbq fan and love ribs, you should give them a try at least once.
If your appetite is hardy you might try one of the combo plates with both steak & ribs or even steak & bbq chicken. Lots of foods though, so expect to take some home unless you can scarf down pounds of meat in one setting like my husband!
There is a whole section of the menu dedicated to chicken and there are some great options for people trying to watch what they eat. Oven roasted chicken, grilled BBQ chicken are a few of the options. Of course you can always go for a grilled chicken salad also. If you are a chicken fan, but are not watching your weight the country fried chicken is very good (but you might want to get the gravy on the side). Also they have a smothered chicken plate that has onions and gravy; however the chicken is grilled (like that makes it healthier!).
Since this is a Texas Roadhouse, they have favorites like chicken fried steak, pork chops, pulled pork and even catfish. The burgers are great, also the pulled pork sandwich yum yum. You can see that there are tons of options which make it an easy choice for someone feeding the entire family.
You can expect the normal side items like fries, fresh veggies, baked potatoes, beans and so on. They do have an awesome sweet potato that is a must have if you are a sweet potato fan. GET IT LOADED TOO!
The dessert menu is small, but the three items they do have are good. The Grannys Apple Classic is awesome, I would recommend it to anyone. The brownie dessert is good too.
How is the service?
Never had a problem with service at Texas Roadhouse. They keep your tea full, keep the beer coming and always seem to be quick in regards to food. I have had to wait long for a table at times, but this is normal at many restaurants during peak times. I cant hold it against them. I have had a few items not right when ordered, but never was it a problem to get them to fix it. Great staff & great service all around!
What about the atmosphere?
This place is fun. Peanuts on the floor, like Logans Roadhouse and awesome rolls free of charge. If you are having a birthday, let them know and they will put you on a saddle and sing to you. If you want to have a few drinks and hang with your friends this is the perfect place. Can get loud around the bar, but for the most part it is a fun place.
What is your overall feel of Texas Roadhouse?
I like this restaurant. Great steaks and other choices as well. The rolls are awesome, free peanuts too. Fun atmosphere and good service, nothing to really complain about. Overall it is a good place to have a fun time and eat some grub! Proud to have this restaurant representing Texas.
