Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros:Lasts for months, highly pigmented, easy to use, not messy, great for quick touch ups
Cons:Not for large areas of hair, can make hair a bit stiff, not waterproof
The Bottom Line: Revlon ROUX Tween Time Instant Haircolor Touch Up Stick is a great emergency touch up stick. Easy to apply and lasts until it's washed out.
My hair is usually dark brown but I recently had it colored a few shades lighter. My roots are already showing and they're a mix of gray and brown. I tried my usual Roux Tween Time Stick in Dark Brown but it was too dark so I bought the lighter shade. It's works like a charm in emergencies.

About The Product
Tween Time Temporary Haircolor Touch-Up Stick. Roux's Tween Time is a one of a kind instant temporary color crayon. Perfect for concealing small areas of gray or covering/blending re-growth area at the scalp. Our formula is easy to apply and is non-damaging so it can be used everyday. What it Does: Perfectly blends to cover up re-growth area. Camouflages the first signs of gray. The effects are natural looking color.
This product is a crayon type stick. It comes carded with a clear plastic overlay. The stick is a light blue/steel gray color and resembles a lipstick tube in size. There is one third of an ounce of product in the tube. The top pulls off and the stick can be swiveled up. There are several shades to choose from and all look almost exactly the same as the color they deposit onto the hair in my experience. I don't really smell anything when I apply the product. It doesn't have an overwhelming scent at all.
I have used Revlon ROUX Tween Time Instant Haircolor Touch Up Stick in Dark Brown for ages. But right now it is just a bit too dark. I was worried about buying Medium Brown because I thought it wouldn't cover gray well. I was wrong. It is very pigmented.
This stick resembles a lipstick but it is flat on the top with slightly sloped edges. It is dry, not moist. To activate it, you have to run water over the stick or dip the end of the stick in warm water.
This product is not made to cover large areas of gray or root show through. It is for small touch up between color. I use it when I don't have time to touch up my roots for a few days or when I notice a little gray or other color popping through on the sides of my hair or the roots.
Once the stick is wet, I just apply by dabbing it onto the areas that need concealing. Sometimes I have to do this a few times. It really depends on how wet the stick is and how much I have to cover. Once the color is deposited, it dries and stays put. if I use it anywhere but by the roots, it makes my hair a bit stiff but it doesn't do that as noticeably on my roots.
I can then brush through my hair without the color coming off. It comes off easily with shampoo but is very long wearing if I don't wash my hair. I could apply Revlon ROUX Tween Time Instant Haircolor Touch Up Stick one morning and the next, it will still be hanging in there although it may be a bit faded by then.
You need to be sure to get the right color because it will be obvious if you don't. You want it to blend with the color closest to the roots. The Medium Brown shade is just a touch lighter than I prefer but it blends quite well anyway. When my current lighter shade fades away (I don't plan to keep my hair lighter, I look best with my natural dark brown hair, I have realized), I will go back to using this stick in Dark Brown.
Revlon ROUX Tween Time Instant Haircolor Touch Up Stick has saved me so many times. I will be about to walk out the door and suddenly notice roots showing. Ugh. The stick is super easy to use, not at all messy, and works every time to blend away the gray and give me some time in between touch ups. I have had gray hair coming in from a pretty early age. I am almost 47 now but I remember seeing gray peeking through at age 30. My sister also started to see gray early so perhaps it's a family trait. Nonetheless, I am not comfortable with it!
I color my roots every four weeks. If my roots start to show before then or I have to delay the touch up process by a week or so, I get out my Revlon ROUX Tween Time Instant Haircolor Touch Up Stick and use it until I can properly cover the roots and have a uniform color again.
As I said though, do remember that this stick is for small touch ups and won't be good for all over root coloring. Just dab it where the roots are visible when your hair is styled and let it dry. You'll be good to go all day!
I wouldn't suggest using this stick if you plan to swim. I have not tested that theory but I would assume it would run or just fade away. It stays on through heat and work outs though.
This crayon can also be used to create streaks. They have a very cool one called Violet Haze which I want to try. I wouldn't apply liberally but to a few strands around my face. I love purple!

You can purchase Revlon ROUX Tween Time Instant Haircolor Touch Up Stick in any of the shades at beauty supply stores, some drugstores, and online. Prices vary depending where you purchase the stick. It's between $5.00 and $10.00 so compare before buying. A stick lasts for ages so you won't need to buy one of these often!
Revlon ROUX Tween Time Instant Haircolor Touch Up Stick in Medium Brown matches my new hue almost perfectly. The Dark Brown is what I generally use and will go back to it in a while but right now, I am loving the results I am getting with the lighter shade. This crayon zaps gray or root regrowth of any color and blends into your hair so it isn't detectable. It washes right out and doesn't damage the hair in any way. It's great to have on hand for those days when you suddenly see your roots popping through and you don't have time to touch them up properly. I can go an extra week or more just using this stick. 4 stars. I would go with5 but it does tend to make hair a little bit stiff in the area it is applied. Not terribly so but I can feel it when I touch my roots.
