I love this machine. I wanted to reply to those who complain about the smell. Are you leaving the door open when the washer is not in use? This is recommended in the manual. Closing the door to this front load washer will create an unpleasent odor. Hope this helps.

No, I wouldn't know where the smell could come from, I must say though that I always use the same washing liquid i'm not sure how to call it, and I always take the wet clothes right out of the washing machine when the washing cycle is done, so no, I haven't experienced any issues with smell.
