Pros:Keeps soil moist, feeds for three months, stronger plants, good boost to new plants
Cons:not cheap.
The Bottom Line: For gardens to give new plants initial boost, or containers that tend to dry out, this stuff is a fantastic help for hot dry summers.
Long hot summers can often be a problem when it comes to container growing or gardens in the summer. When there is a lack of rain and water in rural areas, sometimes the plants will struggle so hard to live that they produce very little if at all. When I discovered Miracle Gro Shake N Feed Moisture Control, however, I found a great relief of this problem in my garden.
WHAT IS MIRACLE GRO MOISTURE CONTROL SHAKE N FEED LIKE?
Miracle Grow Moisture Control Shake N Feed comes in a green handled container- about the size of a half gallon plastic milk container. The top is a blue color with a flip up spout. The fertilizer inside is made from various colors (clear, white, golden) and shapes about the size of large mustard seeds.
The idea of this Shake N Feed Miracle Gro Moisture Control is that some of the particles mix in with the soil and keep the moisture in the soil so run off is reduced. The micronutrients in this fertilizer is appropriate for fruit trees, vegetables, flowers and shurbs. It starts off the plants with a boost and then feeds them throughout a three month period. It can be used in containers and in the ground.
HOW DOES MIRACLE GRO SHAKE N FEED MOISTURE CONTROL PERFORM?
Miracle Gro Shake N Feed Moisture Control really does add a fantastic dimension to gardening. We used to have access to a decent amount of composted seaweed in the past, which was fantastic in helping the soil retain water, but in recent years, our source has dwindled leaving us racing around trying to find an alternative for our soil.
Although we try to grow our vegetables organically, I have been finding that adding a small amount of Shake N Grow Moisture Control to the soil when putting in the plants at first gives them just the extra boost they need to get a firm start in the garden. After that, I find that they retain just enough moisture to help them grow nicely.
In flower containers, if I am growing in smaller pots that tend to dry out quicker, I find that if I use Miracle Gro Shake N Feed Moisture Control and add it to the Moisture Control soil, mixing well. When I do this, I find that containers I was not able to use I can now use and the plants do much better. Water is retained nicely and the plants stay healthy and strong for three months. I then reapply the Bloom Boost version of the Shake N Feed at that point to help the plants last until the first hard frost.
FINAL COMMENTS
I am so thankful for Miracle Gro Shake N Feed Moisture Control fertilizer. It allows me to help plants get established in the garden and is especially helpful in dry summers. It also helps container plants stay moist and grow nicely through the hot long summers.
Miracle Gro Shake N Feed Moisture Control does not burn the plants and if mixed into the soil nicely, it does a great job of feeding plants and keeping them moist between watering.
I found this product at Walmart for $12.95 and at Home Depot for $15.
