Pros:Lower cost than Canon lens, 4 year warranty , awesome pictures.
Cons:High cost.
The Bottom Line: Buy it for the cost, love it for it ability to take great photos.

I wanted a nice F2.8 70-200 lens every since my son was on the wrestling team and the low light of the gym made a lot of my pictures grainy. I did my research and narrowed my choices down to the Canon L series F2.8 70-200 IS II and the Sigma F2.8 70-200 with OS. The Sigma is over $1000 cheaper and comes with a 4 year warranty instead of Canon's 1 year. I have saved for over a year and recently bought my Sigma lens and want to brag about it!

First and foremost, the pictures I am able to take are amazing. I am impressed with the image quality of the Sigma lens as compared to the Canon lenses I was using. I was using the Canon 18-135 IS, 50-250 IS but will be putting these on craigslist shortly because the difference in image quality is that noticeable.

The Sigma lens is well constructed and you can tell by the added weight that it must have some serious glass inside. I feel that my Canon 50-250 IS is half the weight of the Sigma and is about 4 inches shorter as well. Even though the Sigma is heavier, it is not so heavy that you can't carry it or steady it to take pictures. The Sigma also comes with a nice padded case and lens hood and tripod ring. Autofocus and the optical stabilization are also very fast and no different time wise as the Canon lenses I have.

The only negative I have about this lens is the cost. As an average photographer, this is an expensive lens but it is still a lot cheaper than its Canon counterpart. If you are on the fence about buying a lens like this, borrow one from a friend or rent one and the difference might be enough to drive you to buy one for yourself.
