You might think from the title of this review that I did not like my over all experience with the Skullcandy Hesh headphones. This is not entirely true however. I in fact did quite enjoy this most recent purchase adding to my musical enjoyment arsenal. This literally was.. "The Big One"...

I first came across the Skullcandy Hesh headphones after my set of Sony ear-buds sadly passed onto where ever dead electronics go. I am normally an all ear-bud man. I enjoy the sleek powerful speakers slowly chipping away at my hearing on a more personal level. But I decided that I would venture out and try something new. This ended in my purchasing the big and bulky, yet powerful, Hesh headphones from Skullcandy.
What I liked
One thing I have always looked for in ear-buds and headphones alike, is good clear sound quality. I was really surprised when I discovered that the Hesh system had just that. With two 50mm drivers launching the bass powered assault on your hearing. The Hesh headphones can keep up with most small stereo systems. I have even used them as a portable sound system when walking with friends so they might also enjoy the music. But as with all systems you must be wary, it is capable and it will damage your hearing when used in the extreme volumes for exceeding amounts of time. But when used in proper moderation it delivers one roller coaster of a ride throughout the frequency spectrum. From the low end bass whooping, clear up to the point where only dogs can hear it.. okay so not quite that far, but your get my point. For it's price it really can deliver, and it does not disappoint.
What I did not like
These headphones are massive. Like I said before I am mostly an ear-bud man, so I was really surprised when I purchased such large speakers. But how can you say you have lived if you haven't tried it all. So I dropped fifty dollars on an experiment. In hind sight not the smartest idea, I was very lucky.
The speakers are crammed into plastic shells that are the size of large teacups. These are connected by a very heavy duty headband which is approximately a half an inch thick. This makes for a rather bulky package. This is both a good and a bad thing. In the time that I have owned this behemoth, one of my good friends has gone through three diffrent pairs of headphones. In all three cases the headband was where the default was, not the case with the Hesh headphones.
This is a very high quality set of headphones. It is a rather bulky pair, but you quickly learn to not care about the size because the sound more then makes up for it. As with all high quality products you have to pay. The price tag for the Hesh headphones by Skullcandy is in the fifty dollar range, a little up there. I believe it is worth every dollar. But I would love it more if it was in the fourty dollar range.
Over all I was very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
