My son races go karts and had asked me to create him a website. I did this but needed a decent camera to take pictures to upload to his site. With doing some research I decided on the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W570 Light Field Camera. OK I have to admit the first thing that caught my eye was that it came in pink. I know, the features are more important but I thought a pink camera was cute.
The Cyber-Shot is slim and lightweight. I like that it can fit right in my pocket at the race track. It measures 5.6 x 2 x 6.1. It has a 2.7 clear photo LCD display which makes it easy to see your pictures and read the menus. I love that this camera helps me take great photos and decent videos. The camera has a long battery life and has many features.
The Cyber-Shot has a 25mm wide lens with 5x optical zoom. It offers sweep panorama mode, steady shot, iauto mode, face detection, smile shutter technologies, and VGA movie capabilities. The camera also offers a self-portrait mode that allows you to take self-portraits, a natural flash which corrects color balance and soft skin mode which reduces blemishes and wrinkles. It has an anti-blink, face priority, and red eye reduction. There is an easy shooting mode and camera retouching tools. The Cyber-Shot does not come with a memory card but does have a SD/SDHC slot.
The Cyber-Shot comes with a battery charger, battery, multi connector cable, wrist strap, a manual, and an installation disk. My old digital camera required regular batteries and it seemed like I was always replacing them. I love that this comes with a rechargeable battery. The battery has a long life. I only use my camera on weekends and I normally charge it up about once a month. If you aren’t into pink the Cyber-Shot does come in grey and black.
Not only do I like that my Cyber-Shot is pink but it is lightweight and easy to take anywhere. I can easily take a picture as can anyone in my family. It is truly a point and shot camera. The focus is great and I like that the flash is on the top middle of the camera and not to the left like some cameras. With flashes on the left, I sometimes would cover it with my finger when taking a picture by just holding the camera. I do not have that problem with the flash in the middle of the camera. The camera quickly turns on and the zoom lens extends. I also like that the battery is easy to install and remove when it needs recharged. The top of the camera also has a battery indicator light which is helpful.
Another feature I like on this camera is that I can review my pictures without turning the camera on which extends the lens. There is a review button you push and the LCD screen lights up with your photos to review. I also like that I can review photos by date. With taking pictures of my son’s races, I can search for a specific race by date to review and post his pictures. I also like that the pictures are easy to upload to my computer. The one thing I don’t like is that the connector on the bottom of the camera is exposed, there is no rubber covering over it like other electrical devices I own.
I also like that I can put the W570 in my pocket, my pocketbook, I have put it in the glove box in our truck and have put it in a back pack and suitcase. I do not put my camera in a case and I have never had any issues with it breaking or not working no matter where I carry it.
I purchased my W570 Cyber-Shot at Wal-Mart over a year ago for around $125.00. I have seen it still sold in stores and online for a bit more. It runs from $200 to $130.00. If you watch for it on sale, I’m sure you can purchase it for a decent price. I think the W570 would make a great camera for anyone who likes to take pictures. I think it is simple enough for even a novice to take great pictures. I’m sure someone who takes professional pictures would want a better quality but for me and what I use it for I think it is the perfect camera.
I have used the Cyber-Shot at the race track, at family functions, around the house and my children have taken it on field trips. It is that easy to use that even my youngest son had no issues with taking tons of pictures on his trip to Washington DC.
I am happy with my Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W570 Light Field Camera and am glad I purchased it. I would recommend it to others.
