Pros:good audio quality, foldable, aspecially handy for DJ's
Cons:Connection cord has more weight than average headphone
The Bottom Line: The headphone is designed for DJ-remix use, and suits this purpose very well.
For normal use the headphone does not benefit from the slightly heavier weight of the cable.
The MDR-V500DJ is a headphone especially designed for DJ's. As a semi-pro DJ I have so far enjoyed my headphone a lot.

The most important advantage is the spiral, telephone-alike cable wich solves the problem of the (long) cord getting stuck under your chair, behind a handle etc. The 3m long cable folds into a 1m piece when standing close to the audio-source, and unfolds when stepping away.
f.e. when playing music at a party the cord does not hang to the floor where you can step on it. When turning around to your cd-case to select another song, the spiral always adjusts the cable-length.
Second: the headphone has earcups that turn separately from the headpiece. You can turn one cup to listen to the sound in the danceroom and leave the other on to listen to the PFL (pre-fade-listening) sound from your mixer.
Third: the headphone only has one cable, connecting to the left earcup, so it's easier to put it on and take it off then with two cords connecting to either side.
Fourth: the gold-plated plug gives a better connection than a normal iron one + it has both a big and a small jack (plug) (as most headphones do), and very nice: the big one screws onto the small one instead of clicking into place. Therefore the small plug will never unplug from its own because you pull the cable too hard f.e.
Fifth: pretty well shielded agains exterior sound. You can listen comfortably to the PFL sound without distortion from the exterior sounds/music.
Sixth: very comfortable: when you have it on, you would almost forget you have it on, except for the weight of the cable (see below)...
The sporal cord weighs a little bit more than a normal one. Therefore the headphone is not 100% suitable for listening to music while relaxing (sitting on the sofa f.e.)
The headphone-sound can be heard 'outside'
