I usually prefer a mild powder scented deodorant but I decided to try something different when I picked-up a tube of Teen Spirit Anti Perspirant Deodorant Stick Pink Crush 2.30 oz at a local discount store.  The price was right and the Teen Spirit deodorant brought back memories of the good old days. 

This Cute & Girlie deodorant stick was popular with teen girls in the early 1990’s, especially when Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit song was a top hit.  I thought Teen Spirit deodorant had been discontinued years ago and was surprised to see it at my local dollar store.  


Teen Spirit Pink Crush Deodorant Stick

Teen Spirit deodorant/antiperspirant in the Pink Crush scent is a solid stick type deodorant that’s housed in a plastic tube.  Like most deodorant sticks it has a pull-off cap and a turn-dial at the base.  The pink cap has “Cute & Girlie” written on it and the plastic tube has pink hearts, red lips, and xoxo surrounding the Teen Spirit name.  The packaging is cute and would probably be appealing to teen and pre-teen girls.  The deodorant was appealing to me because it reminds me of my young and carefree days and it was only a dollar.  If I hadn’t been familiar with the product I wouldn’t have bought it.

 Teen Spirit Pink Crush deodorant is a variety of Lady Speed Stick deodorant which is made by Colgate-Palmolive.  

The actual product is white but is considered invisible once applied on the under-arm area.  The manufacturer (Colgate-Palmolive) claims that it’s formulated to leave no white residue on the skin which I’ve found to be true.  Teen Spirit deodorant doesn’t leave any white residue on my under-arms or my clothing.  At the end of the day there is no crusty white build-up of deodorant on the under-arm of my shirt. 


The Teen Spirit Pink Crush Scent

To me, the Teen Spirit Pink Crush deodorant has a sweet and berry-like scent.  The stick deodorant has a moderate amount of fragrance that isn’t totally overwhelming.  I can smell the scent shortly after applying the deodorant but the fragrance doesn’t linger throughout the day; even when I’m hot and perspiring.  However, if I put my nose to my under-arm I can definitely smell the fragrance hours after application.  The manufacturer claims the scent is a “long lasting fragrance” which I guess is true if you put your nose to it.  But I wouldn’t consider the Teen Spirit Pink Crush a replacement for spray-on cologne or perfume. 

One of the nice things about the deodorant is that it doesn’t interfere or over-power the perfume that I wear.  

The active ingredient in Teen Spirit Pink Crush is Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly (15.9%).  I haven’t had any kind of rash or reaction while wearing the deodorant.  Others may have a different experience.  


The Effectiveness of Teen Spirit Pink Crush Deodorant

 I’ve found the deodorant to be effect in protecting against malodor.   The antiperspirant/deodorant formula is also capable at preventing wetness, to a certain degree.  When wearing the Teen Spirit Pink Crush deodorant with a t-shirt I don’t get those unsightly wet spots on my shirt. But when I’m really hot I get the feeling of gooey dampness on my under-arms.  For casual low activity days, the damp feeling isn’t a deal breaker but I probably wouldn’t wear the deodorant while doing a 5 mile run.  The slimy gooey feeling would be too distracting.  This gooey dampness might be caused by me applying too much of the product.  I’m kind of heavy handed when applying stick deodorants; too much is better than not enough.  The manufacturer suggests applying the deodorant in several thin layers which is what I’m probably not doing.  


Overall…  

I like the Teen Spirit Pink Crush Antiperspirant Deodorant.  It provides odor protection and keeps my under-arms dry enough (even though it feels gooey at times).  I occasionally use it in place of my usual Secret Powder scent deodorant because it’s fun and nostalgic.  I would recommend this deodorant to teen and pre-teen girls, especially to Miley Cyrus because her singing a version of Smells Like Teen Spirit STINKS.
