Being just a 'Grandmother', and as the kids say, a 'little behind the times'. I have just recently 'come up' in the electronics world, when I got a Wii Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Christmas, from my kids.
When I opened this gift, I was more than puzzled, as again, I had no idea what this really was. Not a problem, my kids were more than happy to 'enlighten' me.
When we bring your grand kids over to see you, they complain that it is 'boreing' to go to Grammie's house, because they say there isn't anything to do.
Well, when I was young and my parents took me to visit my Grammie, we sat politely, and let our Grammie 'talk' to us and tell us stories of our parents when they were little, etc, and enjoyed it. Well, Alas, times have changed.
The grand kids were more overjoyed to see my new Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii than I was, however, I was very grateful, and said I would do my best to learn how to use it.
The Wii turned out to be very cool, for me, because I could also use it for my Netflix. But, the kids and I would find that our relationship would instantly grow, now that there was 'entertainment' at Grammies house. They wanted to come over often, now!
The delight in their eyes was priceless, as they knew more about the game than I did, and they didn't mind 'teaching' 'old Grammie' a few things. (Big fun Smiles)
The Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii, became a hit, not only for the kids, but surprise, I liked it, also.
I'm sure you all know, by now what the Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii, is, but for you 'behind the times' Grandparents out there, and scattered, other's who are still learning, I will try and tell you what I have learned.
First of all, Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii is actually a CD, which you place inside the slot of your Wii. This brings up the game and all the features so you can play on your Wii.
The Intec Sport Kit Bundle, includes a baseball bat, tennis racket, and golf club, which attach to your standard Wii Remote controller.
You can certainly play any of the Sport games, with only the Wii Remote controller, that comes with your Wii. The use of the Sport Kit Bundle, just makes it seem more realistic because you are using the actual 'tools of the sport', rather than a generic remote.
The following is an overview of the games that are included on your Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii:
I have taken this information, for purposes of not forgetting anything, from Nintendo.com:
Features
* Play Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Bowling and Boxing in the comfort of one's living room. No ball boys scurrying about, no oil from the alleys to get players dirty and no rain to keep anyone from a day at the court, park or course. Use the Wii Remote controller to mimic the actions of swinging a racket, bat or club, roll a ball down an alley or bring the left jab.
* Players can use their own Mii caricatures in the game and play them against their friends' Miis for a more personalized experience. As players improve, their Miis' skill levels will increase, so that they can see exactly how much better they've become.
* People of all skill levels can pick up and play any of the games in the unprecedented Wii Sports package, making this truly a title for everyone!
This is what video games should be: fun for everyone. Wii Sports offers five distinct sports experiences, each using the Wii Remote controller to provide a natural, intuitive and realistic feel. To play a Wii Sports game, all you need to do is pick up a controller and get ready for the pitch, serve or that right hook. If you've played any of these sports before, you're ready for fun!
Now for my view of what you are going to be doing with Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii:
Sit back and enjoy as we play! (For right now you will be a spectator), as I show you how to play and use the different accessories from the Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii. I will be doing an overview of each game and how to play~
Before you play any games, you must create a Mii for yourself, and the other players.
A Mii is a animated cartoon character, which you design in the Wii Program!
Once designed, named and other information provided, to personalize your Mii, you are ready to start to play any game on the Wii, as long as you have bought the particular game.
For your Mii, you are able to choose, the hair, style, length, and hair color, the skin color, the eye shape and eye color, the nose shape, the ears, the mouth, and mouth color, as well as your body, how 'tall' or 'short' you want it to be, as well as how 'fat' or 'skinny' you want your Mii to be.
You will also choose, what you want your Mii to wear, there are many variables with this option as well. You may choose a dress, or T-shirt, what kind of shoes, and what color, also whether you want to wear a hat, glasses, or sun glasses.
Your Mii will be the character who represents you in all the games you play or purchase to play on the Wii.
You are able to, at any time, adjust what your Mii looks like, or wears, but you must always have a Mii to represent you, or you can not play!
It is also possible to make a Mii to represent your cat or dog, by doing this, you will see your cat or dog, running around randomly, where ever you may be playing.
You will also see the other Mii's in your family, that you have created, in the audiences, or on the playing fields with you, playing with you or cheering you on.
Say you have friends or family that live in another state, or town, as long as you both are connected to the Internet, there is a way to have your Mii's play along with your friend's or family's Mii's.
This part I have never accessed, but there is a place on the Wii program where you can take your Mii out and about to meet other Mii's.
Now that you have your Mii created and identified on your Wii, you are ready to begin to play the various, games(that includes 100s of games, that can be bought or downloaded) for your Wii.
Now I will give you an overview of all five Games on your new Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii:
First will be Golf:
If you have played Golf in real life, you will be excited as to how realistic the course is. However, if you have never had any experience or knowledge of the Golf game, you will still be able to pick up and play, and enjoy! The sound effects are so real, you will feel as if you were there, also.
You may play Golf alone, and just challenge your own scores to try and out do your last score and so on. Otherwise, you may play with other family or friends, who have a Mii created on your Wii, challenging each other's scores and seeing who can beat who and so on. Either way it is a very enjoyable experience. Now I shout "FORE" or is it "TIMMMBERRR" (Oh, yes, that is what you shout before you chop down a tree, Oh well, (Big Silly Me Smiles) (I think that "FORE" is the word they shout before they swing at the golf ball!) (OK, remember, I am just 'Old Grammie', I can't get everything right!) (Big 'trying to remember' Smile)
(If I was right with that word, Yea, Me!) (If I was wrong, you can 'kill yourself laughing at me, right about now!) Either way, the moral of the story is to have fun! (Big Sportsmanship Smile)!
Now, about Golf!
As with all five games, on Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii, you will notice that they are all 'very realistic', other than the Mii who is playing for you! But, seriously, Wii tries to make all the games feel like you are right there, and playing in real life. The scoring is all true to game, and the landscape and the scenery for Golf, is what you would see on a typical Golf Course.
Now for your Golf game, you have a choice of different 'clubs', depending on if you are 'driving your first ball', or 'putting on the green' to get "par or under par"!
*Par in golf means, the certain number of swings it takes you to get your Golf Ball in the hole.
*So, if it is generally 4 swings to get your ball into the hole, and you get it in by one swing, That is called "A hole in one!"(which is very hard to do!)
*If you get your ball into a hole in 3 swings, that is called 3 under Par! *If you get your ball into the hole in 4 swings, that is called Par
*Anything over four swings, is counted as how many swings it took you, and you want the least amount of swings.
*There are other words that they call different groups of swings! *"Bogey", which means a hole played one stroke over Par!
*Double Bogey, a hole played two strokes over Par!
*"Birdie" A hole played in one stroke under Par!
*Eagle a hole played in two strokes under Par.
*Double eagle, a hole played three strokes under Par, also called an Albatross.
*For each "hole" which is what it is called for the name of the green you are on. (For instance you are in the 1st hole, or #1 green, or if you are in the 9th hole, or #9 green)
A short game of Golf, is 9 holes, and a full game of Golf, is 18 holes!
This was just a little sampling of some of the terminology used in Golf, you may hear some of these things shouted from the crowd, or the announcer while playing the game.
So as I said, you will choose, which 'golf club' to use, for which shot, you also will have a guide that shows you which way the wind is blowing, and a way to line up your shot, accordingly. These are all enhancements to the game to make it more "real" to you. Just as, if your ball falls in the 'sand pit', or in the 'water' or in the 'woods', these things can really happen while playing Golf.
This is a very fun game, all you need to play Golf, is the Wii remote controller They will show you how to hold the controller, which is basically how you would hold a real Golf Club! Or you may add the 'Golf Club accessory" to your Wii remote controller, to make it seem more realistic to you, but as I said it isn't necessary.
I hope this has helped you to get a feel of how the Wii Golf Game is played! (Enjoy!)
Second, Now about Bowling:
As I have said, about Golf, and it applies to every game here in your Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii. If you have ever heard of Bowling and/or have Bowled, the Wii game of Bowling is going to be very similar, other than an animated cartoon character, called your Mii, will be playing in your stead.
On the other hand, if you have never heard of Bowling and/or have never Bowled, not to worry, you will be able to pick it up and have a nice time in your living room. It is very easy and you will catch on fast!
That is the nice thing about all the Wii games, no matter if you are a novice, or an expert, there is a place for you, and you will have fun!
The Bowling Ally is awesome, the sound effects are incredible, you will really feel like you are in a real Bowling Ally, Just as you felt you were on a real Golf Course.
Just like when you are Bowling in a real Bowling Ally, there are people bowling beside you, and all around you, down the different lanes. You have an audience in the back where people are watching and can cheer you on.
If you accidentally 'throw' your Bowling Ball the wrong way, it will fly backwards into the audience, just as it would if you made a mistake in real Bowling. It is so funny, as the audience members kind of scream and jump backwards, trying not to be 'hit', by your 'mistake' ball!
You will choose a ball, just like in real Bowling, your ball will come back to you, on the guide, just like in real Bowling.
You will have guide lines, where you can line up your shot, depending on what pins are left standing. You can adjust these guide lines at any time before you throw your ball.
Just like in Bowling, once you have thrown your ball, you can't take it back. Unless you stop the game and begin again.
You can bowl either on a 'team', or with another person, or by yourself. The Wii Bowling game, keeps track of your score, just like in real Bowling. It will show your best and worse scores, to beat, or improve.
When we Bowl, we keep a little notebook, so that the next day when we turn on the game, we can compare our Bowling skills from the times before. (This is my personal preference, you don't have to do that, you may have other things you like to do, to make your Bowling more fun, and real to you.)
When you throw your ball, you will hear the audience, say different things like 'ooooohhhh' or 'nice shot', or 'strike'. This all makes for an atmosphere of a real Bowling alley.
With your Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii,
there is not a an accessory for your Bowling ball, you will only use your Wii remote controller. They will show you, again, like in the golf game, how to hold the Wii remote controller, for the best control of your 'Bowling ball'.
Some of the popular terms of Bowling are as follows:
*A String is when you bowl a complete game and fill your score card to the end.
*A Strike is when you get all the pins down in one throw!
*A Spare is when you get all the pins down in two throws in a row!
*A Gutter ball is when you aim the ball and throw it towards the pins, and it goes in the gutter instead.
* There are 10 pins, and they are set up in a triangle, each pin has a number identifying it.
* The first pin in the triangle is called the 'head pin'.
* The score of 300 is considered a perfect game, in Bowling.
I hope this has helped you to get a feel of how the Wii Bowling Game is played! (Enjoy!)
If there is any other questions that I can help you with, please leave me a message in my comments section. By the same token, if I have mis stated anything in my descriptions of the various games, that is incorrect, also, please leave me a comment, so I may correct the error.
Third Now about Baseball!
Now with Baseball, again if you have never heard of Baseball, or never played the game, you will be able to jump in and play here on your, Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii.
Also with Baseball, there is an accessory Baseball Bat that you can attach to your Wii remote controller. This will make it more fun, and realistic. Again, as with all the other games, you don't need the Baseball bat, in order to play Baseball, you can use just your Wii remote controller. It is all your own preference, what you choose to do.
Now when you are playing a game of Baseball, you will notice that on the bases and in the outfield, you will see your other Mii's from your family and friends, that you have created.
You, again will notice how extremely realistic the baseball diamond is and how very realistic are the sound effects!
The object of the game of Baseball, is to try and hit the ball, you want it to be a home run, which means the ball is out of the park, and there is no retrieving it, so you automatically get the 'runs' that make up your score. But, of course a home run is not something you will get a lot of, unless you are really really good.
Mostly you want to hit the ball, and get to first, second or third base, before you are touched with the ball, before you touch the base, which means you are OUT!
The team with the most 'runs' (means when a player makes it all the way around the bases and hits home base, without getting "an out".
If you swing at a ball that the pitcher throws to you, and the ball was over the home plate, and you missed the ball, it is considered a strike. If you don't swing at a ball, and the ball is not over home plate, it is considered a ball,
In Baseball, you get 3 strikes before you are called Out! You get Four 'Balls' before you are walked. Being "Walked" means that you get to go to first base without hitting a ball.
Each team gets 3 Outs, before you change places.
When you change places, that means the next team is up to bat, and you go to the out field, and pitch.
Let me recap:
*Run, is when you get all the way around the bases and touch home-base.
*Home Run, is when you hit the ball out of the park and you can just go all the way around the bases.
*Strike is when you swing at a ball and miss, or don't swing at the ball, and it was over the home plate.
*3 Strikes you are OUT!
*OUT means you are done batting, running and everything.
*3 OUTS means you switch team places. (or you are done batting for your team.)
*Your UP means it is your turn to Bat!
*Walk means the pitcher threw you 4 balls and none of them were over home plate, and you did NOT swing at them, so you advance to first base.
*Bases are loaded means some one is on every base, and you are up to bat, you want to hit a good long hit, so everyone can run to home plate.
*Foul Ball is when you hit the ball that was pitched to you, but it goes out of bounds.
*An Error is when someone in the outfield catches your ball, and then fumbles the ball and drops it.
*If someone in the outfield catches the ball before it touches the ground after you have hit it, it is an automatic OUT!
There are 9 innings in a Baseball game, innings are each time a team is up to bat. After someone gets 3 OUTS, the inning is over and the teams change places..
The places in Baseball that a person can 'play' are called:
*Pitcher, the one who pitches the ball to the batter.
*Outfielders, are the players who are in the different parts of the out field, so that they should catch the balls.
*First Baseman, the man that guards first base
*Second Baseman, the man that guards second base
*shortstop, the man that guards between first and second base. To try and stop someone from stealing a base.
*stealing a base, is running to the next base without getting tagged with a ball.
*Third Baseman, the man that guards third base
*Catcher, the man that guards home plate, and catches the ball.
*Umpire, the man that decides if a ball is safe or Out.
*On Deck, means you are the next one up to bat.
*Water Boy, means you supply your team with water, or gator aide.
I hope I have been able to give you a basic idea what playing Wii Baseball is like. If I have made any 'errors' or 'omissions' please leave me a message in the comments, at the end of this review.
Fourth, Now Boxing:
Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii, Boxing is a lot of fun. There is amazingly a lot of exercising with this sport. You are asked to keep loose on your feet, kind of dancing in place, if you will.
The main purpose is so the other guy misses you, as you dance around him. Then as you dance around him, you see an opening and 'POW' right in the 'kisser'! Yea! You got him! Hopefully He is OUT COLD!
Mostly when you are Wii Boxing, there is a virtual 'Guy' who you are supposed to Box, and the object of the game is to knock him out.
You really find yourself hitting hard, even though in reality you are hitting in the 'air' in your living room. But, the sounds and Boxing partner and the Gym are so realistic. You really do, 'feel' when you hit him, and 'feel' when you knock him out. etc.
With Wii Boxing, you can choose to work out, with the virtual guy. Also, you can choose to use the punching bag.. that is the little hanging bag that you try and keep it going by not stopping hitting it. Last but not least, you can choose to use the body bag.. that is the life-size bag, that you practice hitting.
Wii Boxing is fun, but I can't do it for any length of time, as I haven't got the energy for that. But let me tell you, my grand son's certainly have tons of energy. I can set them up with the Wii Boxing, and they will 'go at it', for an hour or more, sometimes. If I need them to burn some energy, this is the game for them. It is really quite funny to watch.
I wish I had more to tell you about Wii Boxing, but I know you will have fun with it. You can do what you want for as serious or as silly as you want it to be.
I hope I have helped you a bit to get a 'feel of Wii Boxing, even though I do not know a lot about it.
If I have mislead anyone about the Wii Boxing, please leave me a note in the comments part, at the end of this review.
Thank you all for keeping me straight on Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii.
Fifth Now Tennis:
As with the other games, If you have never heard of Tennis, and/or never played it, you still can play Wii Tennis. Just as if you are a Professional Tennis player in real life, you can still play Wii Tennis and have fun.
I don't know a lot about Tennis, I will tell you what I do know:
You have a Tennis racket, which one of the accessories for the Wii Sports game is a Tennis racket, which you are welcome to attach to your Wii remote controller. However, it is not necessary to play Wii Tennis with the accessory racket. The Wii remote controller works just fine.
There is usually two people playing Tennis, sometimes four. That would be called playing Doubles.
Tennis sessions are called Sets, I really don't know how many Sets are played before the end of the game.
I am also not sure how the scoring goes, other than getting points if the other man misses the ball, then you get a point.
When I have played Wii Tennis, I basically just practiced hitting the ball back and forth. So, unfortunately I can't tell you anymore about the game of Tennis.
With Tennis, the beauty of the Wii Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii, is that like the other sports, you can play and have fun and learn as you go.
The Tennis court is so realistic as well, as the other games. So are the sound effects.
I know you will have so much fun, with your Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii. My grand kids and I have had a blast, laughing at each other, and with each other.
Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii, really has taught us to Smile again at our house.
I know you and your family will have a ball with Sports Game + Intec Sport Kit Bundle for Nintendo Wii. I think it is a game that will not tire you.
