| rboyer's Full Review: America West Arena |
I have seen a few basketball games at the America West Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. Most recently, I watched the Suns beat the Charlotte Hornets at the AWA. I hadn't been to the arena in a while and on this last visit, I drove there myself, which I had never done before.
The word that comes to mind when describing the arena is EASE. It is so easy to get to the downtown arena from almost any direction and the parking couldn't be more accessible (and cheap! $6 flat rate) Getting in to as well as out of the arena and the downtown area was a breeze! No long traffic lines to wait in or lines to pay for parking. Everything was clearly marked and the traffic--pedestrian and automobile--was well directed.
Inside the arena, I noticed that is was just as easy to get around and to quickly get to one's seat. I also noticed and took advantage of the many bathrooms and didn't have to wait in a line even once! (which is rare in a womens bathroom!!!)Getting out of the arena was also quick and painless--no shoving, relatively few lines. The arena has so many entrance and exit ports that foot traffic moves very quickly in and out of the arena.
Every time I have been to a game at the AWA, the seats I've had have been relatively inexpensive, which also means that I have sat far away from the court. Nonetheless, I have never had a problem watching the game, or looking at the screens around the arena.
I didn't eat at the arena, but took stock of the available food--if you like fast food, you are in luck! They've got plenty of it! If fast food is not your thing, though, there are plenty of good restaurants in the area of the arena, so get there early and have dinner before the game. Remember, the parking fee is a flat rate so you can park all day long for $6 if you wish!
All in all, the arena is very accessible--with regards to location, parking price and service. Although court-side seats are prime, even the seats in section 201 are good!
