I went to three WV Mountaineer/Penn State games in the 80's, the place is almost intimidating to the opposition before you even get there...The stadium is in the middle of nowhere, amongst the Nittany Mountains, which are awe inspiring in themselves....
The stadium has grown by several thousand seats since I was there but it was in the high 80,000's back then, and they were a ravenous crowd and very loud...West Virginia never won there, in fact, rarely even played well, but it was always exciting to be there...The crowd roared from one sideline to the other: WE ARE!!! then PENN STATE!!! With nearly 90,000 in attendance, that is very loud...Penn State offers the fourth largest stadium in NCAA football...
There is an item than I cannot overlook and that is the obnoxious lion roar from the scoreboard each time they score, unfortunately we heard it a lot in my 3 trips to the stadium...
We were part of a bus trip from Morgantown, so we got up close parking and quick access, so I am sorry that I cannot tell you much in terms of driving yourself, but it is very pretty ride from WV...It seemed that every seat offered a quality view...
