Pros: Now has Grass! Many useless outfield seats gone. And as always: Cheap
Cons: Old stadium, nothing special. Fans can be quite dull. Big black wall in center field.
The Bottom Line: With the changes made for the Reds 2001 season, Cinergy is not all that bad. But it is past its prime and will be gone soon.

| zeebo17's Full Review: Cinergy Stadium |
After being the home of the Bengals and the Reds for years, Cincinnati's "Riverfront Stadium" is going down with style as it makes some improvements for its last games as the home of the Reds.
The crummy Bengals have moved into their new stadium: Paul Brown Stadium. Besides their change in home, nothing has changed; they still stink up the town.
The rest of Cincinnati's pride remains in my long-time favorites - the RedLegs.
So now that the name is changed to Cinergy Field and the Bengals are gone, it is strictly a baseball BallPark and has made some changes as a result of this. Here they are:
*Outfield seats
The most obvious change: A couple thousand seats (about 13,000) in the outfield have been removed... and it's a good thing! Now it is not an enclosed stadium. There is a view of the river and the Field's adjacent bridge. You can also see the construction site of the future ballpark of the Reds. However, the stadium's capacity dropped to 39,000 and has already sold out once, leaving many fans without tickets.
*The Black Monster?!
The bad thing about the missing seats now is that there is nothing out in centerfield anymore. So, in order to let the batters see the ball easier, there is a rule that you need something dark behind the pitcher to bring out the ball. The answer to this vision problem was a 40-foot black wall in dead centerfield. Not only does this wall look incredibly stupid and out of place, it has already robbed many players of centerfield homeruns (including my favorite player - Sean Casey).
*Astroturf, no more
Possibly the best addition to the ballpark was grass. Astroturf may have been okay for the football games, but Reds baseball deserved this new grass surface.
So, awaiting the Great American Ballpark's birth in 2003, Cinergy Field is slowly falling apart. But not without some beautifying touches first.
Now is the best time to go see Ken Griffey Jr. and the rest of the Reds stars play, because the ballpark is not that bad and the seats are still cheap! You can get upper-level seats for only $5. Bring lots of team spirit with you (like I always do) because Cincinnati does not have the greatest fans in the game.
