Pros: Design, atmosphere and amenities.
Cons: Only a few minor flaws.
The Bottom Line: There are some things that keep Conseco Fieldhouse from being a spectacular arena, but it's still pretty awesome.

| Adamy1220's Full Review: Conseco Fieldhouse |
Before I review Conseco Fieldhouse, I should make a point of it that I was not there for a Pacers game, or any NBA game at all. I went to Conseco Fieldhouse this March for the Big Ten men's tournament, moved this year from Chicago. This is what I observed about the building.
It is a nice, modern building in looks, inside and out. Huge glass windows sit on top of the stands along both sides of the court. Designed with plenty of brick, keeping a strictly old-time feel to the place.
The seating areas are comfortable, and I might add very intimate. The distance from one side of the upper bowl to the other in unbelievably shorter than the bulky United Center. Probably because the sections are stacked steeply atop one another and go up like an inverted pyramid.
Concessions are mostly franchised, like for example Dominos or Arby's. But there is variety, as the club level is open to all and has some higher-scale stuff to eat, like the Matzo Ball soup I ordered.
It seems like it is a very desirable home court for the Pacers. Indiana is a basketball state and the inside of Conseco Fieldhouse lets you know it. I found few flaws, but some were very annoying...
-The old-timers scoreboard with hand-operated numbers is nostalgic, but it greatly limits the scores you can receive. Add to that a beam obstruction issue in many sections, and you have a problem.
-In club seating, for some reason they run a metal bar along the back of every other row, like they do for handicapped sections. Picture the scenario: You move your leg too recklessly, and knock the rickety beam forward into the back of the head of every person in the next row. In unison, 15 people fall unconcious.
-Perhaps the thing that most peeved me, was the utter price gouging taking place at the Fieldhouse. I'm talking four big ones for 20 ounces of Coke. Over six dollars for a "parfait" consisting of strawberries covered in whipped cream. I used to think $3.25 for a bottle of Pepsi was bad at Nationwide Arena....
