I was lucky enough to attend the Florida State/Florida game on November 18th , 2000 (Sec 19 , Row 29 , Seat 14 )at Doak Campbell. The stadium aesthetically has had massive improvements over the last ten years. It looks like it has been unchanged in over a century , but in reality the brick facade is relatively recent. A modern mall food court area has been added were students get hands on training and rows of skyboxes and offices are now housed in the upper decks.
The game itself is a not to be missed experience in the stadium , no matter which game you go to . The fans and students love their team and you can't help but be caught up in the spirit of college football.The game I attended is a huge rivalry , so the energy level and atmosphere was about ten times what you'd get at a normal game. The fans for both sides were respectful of each others views , for the most part , and I didn't see one person who was not in awe of the spectacle before them come game time.
The only down side of the game was the bathroom conditions , most were dirty and a few were flooded , and the parking area. They have most of the parking near the stadium reserved for boosters and alumni , but they do provide a cheap shuttle bus from nearby parking garages for only four dollars. The parking lots by game time were filled with trash from the tailgaters , and I didn't see that many receptacles for the amount of people using the area. The lots are also very low lit , if at all and several major walkways were just trampled paths through landscaping.
Overall I would recommended this stadium to anyone and everyone , no matter what team they root for , as something they should experience at least once in their life.....
