I don't think the F.U. Center is a bad arena by any means, but I think that for a modern arena it could be better. Most of my trips there were for Philadelphia Flyers games.
There are only two main entrances into the building and 2 escalators leading to the upper level, but it doesn't create a problem when arriving. After the game, the upper level concourse can get a little cramped and most people take the steps down instead of waiting for the escalator.
Some have complained of the temperature being too low, but I think the temperature is fine. One big issue when the F.U. opened was smoking. Now you are not allowed to smoke anywhere in the building (I think they have an outside smoking area). This was a great move for the arena as non-smokers do not have to go home stinking of cigarette smoke anymore.
The seats are decently padded, but they are not very spacious. The upper level is very steep, but it makes for a better viewing experience. Even from the very top rows, it is hard to complain of the view.
All the tickets are overpriced, but that is something you have to deal with everywhere nowadays. The prices make the crowd very corporate and rather quiet, which is bothersome to a lot of the 'true fans.'
Including the basic $3 popcorn and $5 beer, they have pizza hut, hoagies, chicken sandwiches, and a few other items.
Parking and traffic are good, comparative to other arena's. They did raise the price of a huge parking lot across the street from $5 to $10 last year, so try to avoid that. Other lots are about $5 or $6. Getting out after the game is not that bad because of its close proximity to several major highways.
The reason I am not giving it 4 stars is because it has nothing that sets it apart. It was only opened 4 years ago and is a good place to watch a game, but it is missing the 'wow' factor. Other modern arenas are really trying to create a name for themselves, but the F.U. center just tries to fit in. This is how I try to evaluate a sporting venue, especially newer ones.
