| domewarrior's Full Review: First Union Center |
In the First Union Center, I have seen several Philadelphia Flyer's hockey games. Located by the other sports facilities of the city, with plenty of room around for parking, it was convenient. It was also easy to find. The parking situation was manageable, as there were plenty of spots, but depending on how early late you should arrive, you may have to walk a great deal to the arena. Inside the arena it is very spacious, with several interactive, fan-based displays to keep one occupied. There are also several games that a fan can use, such as air hockey, bubble hockey, and basketball shooting for entertainment before a game or between periods. The food is, as usual, expensive. But, unlike most sporting arenas, there is a good selection and it is decent quality. From pizza, to sandwiches, to candy, and back to the normal hot dog, they have a decent fast-food selection.
The actual feel of the game is good also. The capacity is large, and it is usually filled up. The PA system is loud. The action is intense. The view from all areas is great. I have seats at the very top, and seats at the 8th row. Both were good; I could see the action from the top, and as expected, I could see much more and with much more detail and action from the 8th row. Both were worth the money. The tope seat was about $30, and the 8th row was about $60. The sound level is not great, as the arena gets quiet through spurts, but it can be loud. Leaving, it is, well, crowded. It might take a while to get out, but that is not unusual. While inside, a fan will have a great experience and witness a great game undoubtedly, as long as he or she gives the most as a fan can give, yelling and cheering.
