| pakkiemal's Full Review: First Union Center |
I am a die-hard Philadelphia 76ers fan. Ever since Larry Brown came to town, Sixers' fan have been given hope that the Sixers will be successful. Since his arrival, the Sixers'have made the play-offs two seasons in a row, a great improvement from below .500 seasons of the past.
Philly may not be the best team in the NBA, but we have some of the best fans. The electric feel in the First Union Building during the regular season and the play-offs is unmatchable. The combination of stars such as Allen Iverson and Toni Kukoc bring Sixers' fans to their feet.
This fact is what makes me sad. Sure, the First Union Center is great. It is roomy and luxurious, but it is missing something. It is missing the feel that was present in the Spectrum. The First Union Center is too big.
Sixers' fans would have the whole building rocking if the Sixers' games were still being held in the Spectrum.
Personally, I grew up in the Spectrum. To see what it has become now, just makes me shake my head in sadness. What used to be a great building, now is home to the Disney on Ice and the Circus...
This just proves that bigger is not always better.
