My first Hockey game took place here. January 6, 2001 - Vancouver Canucks VS the Columbus Blue Jackets. The reason I consented to a Hockey Game is through my work, I got the tickets for $20 a peice, including dinner. My Fiance was estatic. We usually don't have money for these types of things. Actually, we've never had extra money for a Hockey Game, as the tickets are usually no less than $50 per person.
The Stadium is huge. Aaron and I spent about 10 minutes arguing about the estimate amount of people there. I said about five thousand, he said twenty. He was closer: 18 thousand people!
There are no bad seats, so I can't believe that they charge more for some seats than others. (I realize balcony seats should be more.) There are many isles, and you rarely have to stumble over people to get a hotdog or a drink. (Aaron would be a good person to ask about quality beer. I think it was good, I helped him stumble home afterwards.)
General Motors Place (GM Place, to the locals) is located right outside "Stadium Sky Train Station" so it is easily accessible by Public Transit. There are large parking lots, enough so there were still some stalls left over. In the area, there are also dance clubs, sports bars, and high-class restaurants, as well as hotels.
OUR SEATS...
Although there "isn't a bad seat in the house" ... we were sitting in the Molson Canadian Section. (Molson Canadian is a type of beer, for those of you that don't know.) The company organizes tee-shirt give aways, little towels, free tickets, etc. They have reps there (that were younger than we were!) with painted faces (occasionally) and Molson Canadian attire. They also organize specialized cheers for the teams. It was nice, but since it was a beer-orientated group, it was a rowdy crowd. We missed the last few minutes of the game because a fight broke out a couple rows over, and it was more interesting.
FYI: Vancouver won, 6-1! This made the experience much nicer!
