Heels have a beauty of a stadium

Pros:nice seating, good view
Cons:parking, the tar heels are not a football school, so lack of spirit
The Bottom Line: Though the Heels main athletic concern is basketball, this football stadium is very nice. I felt the view and seating was great, but expect to walk a ways.

First of all let me tell you that I am a big UNC fan, always have been and always will. But almost everyone that lives in the South knows that football is not the strong spot of the Heels, it is a big basketball school. With that being said Keenan Stadium is a great facility in itself.

Seating- I felt is was relatively easy to find your seat, and the staff at the stadium was happy to help out when needed.

View- For the tickets we had, the view was great, right on the field, you could see anything. Of course anyone could have this view, the bottom rows were sparsely populated. The year I went the Heels were struggling, and this was about halfway through ACC play and they were win-less in the league.

Parking- You can find some great parking........unfortunately it is a ways away from the stadium. We had to walk about 1/2 mile to 3/4 a mile, not to bad, but the person I was with knew some shortcuts. So, if you are unfamiliar to the area and follow the sidewalks and so on then you might be in for a long walk.

Food- The food was good, and expensive, nothing new here. It ranks relatively the same to most any other college athletic events food venues. Do not expect to find an assortment of food, Keenan usually has mostly fast food type food along with some pizza.

Traffic Flow in Stadium- At most games it usually takes a good while to get in and out of the stadium, this was not true when I attended Keenan Stadium. It was relatively easy to get in and out, without a wait. Of course, this probably has to do with the lack of people attending the game. Once again I attended in a down year for the Heels (it has been a down year for the past 3 or so) so when the Heels get back on the winning track I expect it to be a bit more crowded. I also went to the Wake Forest Game, not a huge rival, compared to Duke or NC State, which would bring much more people to the games.

Atmosphere- The Heels had a tough time scoring this game, and the crowd never seemed into it, but I have a feeling that it can get loud. On the day I attended there were a group of guys walking around with bags on their heads. But as I have mentioned before, once a good season comes the atmosphere should be back.

Appearance- The stadium looked nice, it seemed well groomed and suitable for a college game.

Overall- Keenan Stadium is one of the nicest college stadiums I have attended. Compared to other ACC stadiums I have been too (Clemson, Wake Forest) I feel the view at Keenan is better. Sometimes the atmosphere suffers because of the year the Heels are having, but all in all its a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Parking Availability: Better Get There Early
