| poneyby's Full Review: Lambeau Field |
I feel the need to write about the great Lambeau. Since I was born in Green Bay and have always told people I have green and gold blood running through me. If anyone knows anything about the Packer games, you know it is almost impossible to get tickets to there home games. Well unless you pay the extreme on E-bay. All the seats are always sold out, most of them belong to season ticket holders. I was lucky enough to win 2 tickets twice. Well I should say my parents won them and gave them to me and my sister for our birthdays two years in a row. Both games they won! Lat year one of only 4 games they won.
So last year and this year I was able to see the Packers live from two very different areas of Lambeau. Our first game there was against Seattle. We sat three rows up from the playing field. Right next to were the Packers come out of the tunnel. It was amazing to be that close. I am not ashamed to admit(well a little embaressed now) that before the game I saw Brett Favre( the GREATEST Quarterback ever!) about to walk into the tunnel. I screamed out his name like a little girl and waved my arms until I got his attention. He waved back I believe just to get me to shut up. My sister to this day always brings this up and makes fun of me. We just missed out on a Lambeau Leap( when a packer player scores a touchdown he jumps up into the first row and gets patted on the back by fans).
This year we sat almost near the very back row. Our seats were almost as far away from the field as possible. Even these seats were great. You could still see the game clearly. No matter were you sit( unless you are really rich and get box seats) be prepared to be squished. Everyone stuffed in together on bleacher seats. Not always a bad thing since almost all Packer home games are freezing. Amazingly both games we went to the temprature was near 50.
Now to some more specifics. Parking is a problem. Most everyone needs to find parking on the streets around the stadium. People around who own houses sell parking. The closer you get the more expensive they charge. We paid 5 bucks to park in someones lawn about 10 blocks away. You could park about a block away for around 25-30.
Once inside the stadium they have plenty to see and do before the game. They have a pro shop where you can spend a good amount of money. Of course everything is very highly priced. They have plenty of places to eat that will also cost you plenty. A great way to get a free souvenier, sign up for a credit card. They have stands and give away free Packer stuff for signing up. First time I got a Favre bobble head, second I got a Packer blanket.
You could spend hours taking in all the pictures and tradition around the stadium. Plaques of the old Packer greats to look at. Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, the late great Reggie White and of course Vince Lombardi and many others. It truely is a once in a lifetime experience, well unless you are very rich or lucky enough to get free tickets twice :).
