Clemson Memorial Stadium is better known as DEATH VALLEY..and this year each opponent that comes into the valley is getting KILLED!
Death Valley holds over 81,000 people and when it is full of people it is a sea of orange. Death Valley was built in 1942 and just recently was updated.
There are the traditional upper and lower decks, and also an end zone section. Something that is unique to Clemson is "The Hill". Home to Howard's Rock, the sacred good luck charm to the Tigers; the Hill is a grassy hill that the players run down and rub the rock as they run by it. After the team runs in, students and others who pay $5.00 can fill in and sit on the hill.
The Press Box seating is indoor and air conditioned. The seating is sofas and there are buffets of great food in each box. You can have all the food and beer that you want. These Boxes are owned by companies and wealthy fans though, so most people who sit there are either rich, or they know someone...We know someone!
Parking at the stadium is terrible. All of the close parking is reserved for the largest donors. Others have to walk a mile or two form the car to the stadium. The whole town is full of tailgaters though...even two miles away!
Death Valley has plenty of bathrooms, which are kept clean, they also have a great variety of food and drink vendors. There is no bad seat in Death Valley either!
The spirit of Clemson fans during a game make Death Valley and awesome sight! In terms of an exciting football stadium the only other that compares in Notre Dame. The atmosphere is almost carnival like. There are some nice pieces of grass around the field where kids play football and little girls pretend they are cheerleaders. The sound of "TIGER RAG" rings and echos throughout the stadium!
Death Valley is also home to the largest student lead pep rally in the US...TIGERAMMA! If you are ever in Clemson and do not have a ticket to the game...drive down Perimeter Rd. You will never again in your life see such an exciting site as Death Valley in her Glory!
