| BrownBelt's Full Review: Memorial Stadium (Nebraska) |
I have lived in Nebraska all my life, and thus, have been a Husker Fan my whole life. Memorial Stadium only betters my opinion of my favorite team.
With a capacity of over 72,000, it would seem like Husker tickets are easy to come by. Well, guess what. THEY AREN'T! During our game against Kansas this previous Saturday, I was a part of Memorial's 238th consecutive sellout, the longest streak in the nation. And, just a little background info, Memorial was named after all of those who died in World War II. And believe me, it certainly is "The Sea of Red".
Depending on where you are in the stadium, the seats are either wood or plastic. If you are in the wooden seats, you can rent a chair/cushion that connects to it for $2.50. But no matter where you're sitting, you'll have a great view. Last Saturday, I sat in th 62nd row, and it was better than when I sat in the 30th.
Memorial is very clean with concession stands everywhere. Hot Chocolate, coffee, pizza, whatever you want, they've got it. If you don't feel like getting up, wait a couple of seconds (literally) until someone comes by selling Runzas, Valentino's pizza, or Pepsi. Most things cost 2 or 3 bucks.
Want some souvenirs? Go across the street to the Big Red Shop, Husker Authentic, or walk a couple blocks to the infamous Nebraska Bookstore, where they have every piece of Husker memorabilia you can think of.
Memorial Stadium recently put in skyboxes which loom in the West part of the stadium. I've never been lucky enough to sit in them, but I envy anyone who has! Before the game, go down and watch the players on the practice field, scream at all the cute ones, and then begin your journey through the flood of people to eventually find your seat.
This stadium has everything you could ever want. So even if you don't like us, come give Memorial a try!
