| psu106's Full Review: Notre Dame Stadium |
I attended a game at Notre Dame Stadium during the 2006 season. This was an extremely sought after game, and tickets were sky high on Ebay and all of the ticket broker sites. Also, hotel rooms were extremely expensive. Hotels in South Bend have different prices for each home game, which is something that I've never seen before. I chose to stay about 15 miles away in Elkhart, Indiana, because I could not afford the $500/night and 2 night minimum that some of the hotels were looking for.
The day of the game, we parked in a grass field, and chose not to tailgate, but instead, we took a shuttle bus right to the stadium. The shuttle bus came in a few minutes, so the wait was not that bad. Once we got onto campus, we were amazed at how beautiful everything was. We headed to the bookstore before we walked down by the stadium, then into the game. As we were getting out tickets scanned, we were greeted with men and women in tuxedos, who all said "Welcome to Notre Dame". This was very classy.
The stadium itself is very awe inspiring. Gone are the ads which have popped up in nearly every other stadium in the world. Out in the distance you can catch a glimpse of Touchdown Jesus, which adds to the aura. My biggest pet peeve was that some of the fans were incredibly rude to fans of the opposing team. The food selection at the stadium was average, at best. There were better selections outside of the stadium. I did like the student body all wearing the same green t-shirt. That was a nice touch.
