Pros: Easy to get a good seat, enthusiastic fans
Cons: It's still a dome and it's still astro-turf
The Bottom Line: If the Expos play there in 2003, you should check it out just to say you've been there.

| dlove1976's Full Review: Olympic Stadium |
I went up to Montreal in July 2002 to get a first and perhaps last glimpse of the Expos playing at the O.
We had field box seats behind 1B, about 10 rows up. Considering the exchange rate and the scarcity of fans showing up (especially on a weekday), the tickets were quite easy to get.
We parked in the O parking lot, as I had no clue where else I could park. It was quite a walk through various underground levels to get to the stadium entrance.
My first impression was that Olympic Stadium was a lot smaller than I had imagined. It seemed smaller than Shea or Yankee Stadiums- the outfield seemed closer in, the stands didn't seem to go as far back. Now this was the first time I was in a dome, so perhaps that distorted my perceptions.
Anyhow, despite a small crowd (around 13K), they were quite loud. The seats were nothing special. I didn't notice them, so I guess I'd have to call them average.
I thought the vending layout inside was horrendous. Long lines everywhere. I spent 3 innings trying to wait for a pretzel in line... only to find out they were sold out when I got there! I did enjoy the team pictures from every year in team history, the Expo Wall of Fame and the history of baseball in Montreal exhibits.
Overall, aside from the food aspect, I thought it was quite enjoyable. The stands are close to the field, the outfield doesn't seem so distant. If it were outdoors, this would actually be an amazing place to go for a ball game. It may not have a unique design, but it's not all that bad, especially from the box seats.
