| Amos2405's Full Review: Raymond James Stadium |
Enter the club section of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL and prepare to be pampered. As you step into the spacious lobby, you are greeted by friendly faces giving you some type of Bucs' item with a sponsor's name clearly labeled on it; they range from travel mugs to backpacks to pom poms. On your left is the lost and found booth as well as the concierge, who will assist you in any way possible.
To your right is the restaurant featuring a pregame buffet as well as wings, sandwiches, and desserts during halftime. The food is not included in the ticket price but the buffet is worth the extra $30.00 per person. Selections include shrimp, crab legs, smoked salmon, a carving station featuring either turkey, ham or roast beef, various entrees including jambalaya, pasta dishes, and chicken and fish specialities. A full salad bar is available, allowing you to create your own masterpiece. Side dishes include various fresh vegetables, rice, and assorted potato dishes. Desserts are not overlooked: choose from huge chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin cookies, cream pies, and multi-layer chocolate, golden, or fruit flavored cakes. If it's a 1 p.m. game, the menu is enlarged to include breakfast items. Choose from made-to-order omelets, sausage, bacon, french toast and biscuits with gravy. Liquor and beer are available at all buffets, for an extra charge.
Once you've satisfied your appetite, take the escalator upstairs and relax in a leather chair, listening to a three man band or watching games on either one of the numerous television sets throughout the club section or on a huge big screen set that would never fit in your house (one located at each end of the club section.)
The normal stadium food is present on this level-hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, popcorn, and ice cream. Hamburgers and chicken are served with french fries for around $8.00. You can either purchase food at the counters or order from your seat and a server will bring your food to you (the in-seat menu is limited.) Drink vendors are constantly around with beer, soda, and bottled water. If you desire something a little stronger, stroll inside to the full liquor bar. Alcohol is served throughout the game (no rushing to buy beer before the fourth quarter.)
The seats are large, padded, and come equipped with armrests and cupholders. The only downfall is the humid Florida weather, which can cause you to stick to your seat. Bring a towel to remedy the situation. The view of the field is excellent from any of the club seats.
The crowd gets into the game (most are Bucs' fans) and often times, it is extremely loud in the stadium. If you decide to take a break from the action or if a sudden Florida thunderstorm hits, head back into the air-conditioned club lounge and select a posh leather chair or loveseat. You won't miss a moment of the game, due to the televisions everywhere. The radio broadcast is played in the bathrooms. The restrooms are immaculate. Perhaps the best part is never waiting in line for the women's bathroom. As of the 2000 season, two of the women's restrooms were decreased in size, making it highly possible for a line to form. The decrease was caused by the addition of smaller luxury suites to provide ample seating for the Superbowl.
Even though the full size pirate ship is not in the club section, but rather in the end zone, club seat holders are allowed to leave and reenter the club section with their ticket stub and armband. It doesn't allow access to the actual ship, though. Security is tight, assuring the exclusiveness of the club section.
The biggest drawback to the club section is the ticket price: they start at $109.00 each. Parking is an additional $10-$15. Parking for the entire season can be purchased with the season tickets. This guarantees a spot near the stadium. The atmosphere surrounding the stadium on game day is exciting. The people in the community truly support their beloved Bucs, as evidenced by the tax increase to help pay for this state-of-the-art stadium. I highly recommend taking advantage of the club section if it's financially possible.
