Raymond James Stadium… known as RayJ to Tampa Bay fans, or the “New Sombrero” to Chris Berman at ESPN. Whatever you want to call it, this facility is the gem of the city of Tampa, a true masterpiece of arcitecture. During the demolition of old Tampa Stadium, it was hard to drive by and not think of the many memories that stadium held for not only the bucs, but the old USFL bandits as well. I missed that stadium, and didn’t want it to close. I further missed the stadium when the city was nailing the citizens with taxes, not to mention the tourists as well. Since it’s opening a few years ago, I’ve sat everywhere in the stadium, from the boxes to the club seats to the nose bleed sections. But it took the Sunday, September 10, 2000 home opener 41-0 thrashing of the Chicago Bears to realize the true power of this stadium.
I purposely moved season tickets to the upper corner, section (303) row H, to be able to sit in every corner of the stadium. As the National Anthem concluded, with a B-1 Bomber flying overhead from nearby Macdill AFB, I realized there isn’t a single bad seat in the entire place. I mean, You can see the field and all the details from every angle. All seats are folding plastic chairs that are pretty wide, plus have cup holders up front. Bathrooms are large with plenty of stalls, large scoreboards with great sound, easy vendor access, and best of all, Buccaneer Cove, where the ship lays anchored, pummeling opponents with it’s cannons. If you want to experience football, or even concerts, this is definitely the place to be.
If you are shooting for tickets to the big game this year, you won't be let down.
