* I am really getting sick and tired of hearing from people like: Ed Bouchette,
Thor Tolo, and Mark Madden about "The Over-specialization of Football." What they generally are
referring to is the defensive schemes run by the Steelers--more specifically, the Dime package. This
all started last weekend. It is like the cohorts of Bouchette, Tolo, and Madden got together and
decided to start bashing the Steeler Coaching Staff on this matter. It is a two sided issue for them;
#1 Earl Holmes is coming out of the game on 3rd down, and that get's their bowels in an uproar. #2
is that "having a 6th defensive back on the field just makes the team weak and is 'over-specialization.'
I couldn't disagree more with this 'experts.' First you have to consider the sources. Bouchette is one
of the most negative guys in the history of the world. I think his pulse must only be 20 beats per
minute, also---what a boring man. Nothing worse than an unenthusiastic #1 reporter for the teams
#1 media outlet. (the Post-Gazette). Tolo--he is an idiot. He runs an outstanding radio show. I
think he is very professional in his duties. The thing with Tolo, he is like the little pansy kid next door,
that was always afraid to get his hands dirty and do things the hard way-- the guy is weak in having a
good knowledge of how Pittsburgh really is..and how the NFL Coaches (and schemes) really work.
Then we come to Mark Madden. I wouldn't pay him $2.00 an hour to do sportstalk from midnight
to 6:00 A.M. (in other words, i would rather listen to RoseAnn Arnold sing the National Anthem).
The guy is a total nightmare--he doesn't know what is going on "INSIDE" of the NFL...he doesn't
keep up with basic football concepts...and he just spouts off nasty words just for good ratings and
attention. Tolo and Madden are what I call EXTREMISTS....with Bouchette just being
EXTREMELY BORING.
