| Dunkjam's Full Review: Turner Field |
Turner Field is one of the best baseball stadiums that we have ever visited. They open the gates two hours before the game to give you time to look around the stadium. They have a braves museum which is full of a lot of the Atlanta Braves baseball history! They even have a real dugout where you may sit and take your own pictures. This dugout was the original one that they took out of Fulton County Stadium!
This relatively new stadium is very clean and is well laid out. There are plenty of clean restrooms that are spaced generously around the baseball stadium. They really have a lot of places to purchase food and beverages. They have some unique restaurants and food vendors. One food place changes their menu according to what team is coming to Atlanta. For instance, if the Phillies play there, they would be selling Phillie Cheese steak sandwiches.
The Braves Museum is on the right field side of the ballpark and the Skywalk is on the left field side. The Skywalk overlooks the left field side of the ballpark and you have to climb many steps to get up to this area. They also have an elevator that you can use. There is a walkway on top of the Skywalk that has a mist spray that you can walk thru which is very refreshing on a hot Georgia night. There is also a small grass field for children to play on. The Skywalk also is a good place to be if a pull hitter like Mark McGwire comes up to bat. Coca Cola has a large circle marked on the walkway where anyone can stand and hope to catch a homerun baseball. If you are fortunate enough to do this, you will receive one million dollars! This is a must see ballpark and words can't really express how great the atmosphere can be. It is so exciting and there is even a huge Coca Cola Bottle that shoots out fireworks whenever the Braves hit a homerun!
Another great thing about Turner Field is that you can bring your own food into the ballpark (fried chicken,snacks,etc.). They do check your purses and coolers to make sure that you do not bring any glass bottles or alcohol into the stadium. There are several shops in the stadium and several places to eat. The bullpen is made in such a way that you can actually see the relief pitchers warming up at close range. Again I think that this ballpark is simply the best.
The only thing I can think of that would top this, is going to the World Series at Turner Field and seeing our team win the World Series! So if you enjoy going to baseball parks, this is one you will not want to miss. The best way to enjoy your visit is to go by Marta. Marta stays open even if the game goes into extra innings to make sure everyone gets a ride home.
