Pros:Small and lightweight; dimmer features; very bright white light; reasonably priced; fairly quick charge time.
Cons:Cannot use while charging; no lanyard included; 2-hour maximum charge time;
The Bottom Line: A nice compact and lightweight spotlight that gives great illumination with LED bulb and has dimmer features and a lock switch, all at a reasonable price.
The Stanley Ultra Bright LED Spotlight Model SL5W09 is an excellent rechargeable spotlight with some very nice features. It is relatively small for a spotlight with 192 lumen power. It is yellow and black and it has a loop at the end of the handle for a lanyard, although there was no lanyard in the package.

This spot is about 50% smaller than the normal spots of this power and it has up to 10 times the runtime, but the caveat to that claim is if it is run on the dimmer setting. At the high setting it has a runtime of about 50 minutes before a recharge is necessary. The battery is a 7.2 volt 700mAh NIMH type and the bulb is a 5 watt LED type.
The light has a rubber bezel and a rubber handle and it is UL and CSA listed. There is a trigger and a trigger lock to hold the light in the on position. There are LED indicators for battery status and a dimmer switch. The initial charge takes about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. It can be charged with the included AC charger or the included DC charger for automobiles. The light will not work while being charged.
To operate the light the trigger is squeezed and held. To turn off the light, you have to release the trigger. For a constant on, you can depress the lock button and it will stay lit without keeping the trigger depressed. There are also dimmer selector buttons which allow you to dim the light or raise the light with each click. When you approach the maximum or minimum brightness, the LED light flashes and when the maximum or minimum is reached, a beep is sounded.
There is a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty which I assume also applies to the battery and the bulb because there is no exception to these items in the warranty information. Most similar spotlights by other manufacturer’s exclude batteries and bulbs in their warranties. The instruction manual is brief and well explained. I paid approx. $34. for this item from one of Amazon.com partner sellers. Because it was not sold directly by Amazon, there was a $6. shipping charge.
I have used this spotlight several times since purchase and find the light to be exceptionally bright and very white as most LED bulbs are. The relatively small size and light weight makes it easy to use and carry. There was no lanyard included but I was able to reuse an old lanyard from a previous spotlight that was discarded. I have not had this item long enough to comment on the battery life or the number of charges it will take.
There is a caution mentioned in the instruction manual warning not to charge for more than 2 hours, so this is not something you should plug in to charge and go to bed. You might have a useless spotlight in the morning.
