NOTE: as with many of the items I review in this category the items are not toys per se, rather these are resources produced by an education, school, instruction centered publisher; and are classroom type materials intended for use with primary and older age students in both public school or home school setting as well as for use by parents who are working to help their children with learning content areas.

TEACHER CREATED RESOURCES® Super Effort Award is a multi-purpose accolade suitable for awarding to Little Learners for accomplishment, success, good try or whatever the reason the one providing the honor may deem it to be.  Measuring 8.5 x 5.5 inches, these attractive tributes are positive esteem builders.

I am pleased TCR materials are child safe, acid-free per industry standards, printed on substantial card stock generated from quality raw materials chosen especially for manufacture of items to be used in situations where young children can reasonably be expected to be present. 

Paper is a nice, smooth surface, graphics are child pleasing, bright, cheery and suitable for display or saving for the recipient in a scrap book or other means for commemorating children’s lives.  Surface of the award is designed to accept various pen type inks; I generally use a black marking pen and manuscript type lettering when personalizing awards for the 6 year old set.  I used a calligraphy pen for scribing name and data on the face of 4thgrade awards.

Because this particular award is not academic content specific; I find the generic super effort verbiage allows the award to be presented for any situation calling for an attaboy type award.

This handsome award is blue with reddened lettering.  A translucent blue, rayed star set against a deep indigo background filled with swaths featuring soft cerulean stars, shimmery yellow stars and faint dots in addition to pale cobalt streaks, blazes across the center of the award.  Across the bottom of the star are found 3, pale, non-dedicated lines for adding information regarding date, name of recipient, reason for award, or whatever addressee decides to add. 


Orange Red lettering fills the top half of the award.  Letters proclaim Super Effort Award in shades beginning with a pale shimmery yellowed orange and progressing into a true ginger as the tint continues to the bottom of the letters.

I have used many Teacher’s Creative Resources materials over a career spanning 3 + decades and have always found TCR’s acid and lignin free products to be full-bodied, durable and hard-wearing.  Because these items are designed by teachers for teachers and the classroom I have confidence that materials  I buy for my classroom are sure to meet the needs I, a teacher have, and are not items that perhaps look good, but do not meet the actual classroom need. 
 
NOTE:  recently I was asked questions regarding safety procedures used for creating classroom materials as well as whether or not materials continue to be by Teachers for Teachers.

Emails to Teacher Created Resources resulted in quick reply Our (TCR)  items are tested and comply with Consumer Product Safety Commission standards or regulations.
 
Yes, our items are still created by Teachers for Teachers. All our books are primarily printed in the US, however some of our decorative items are printed in China. We are in the process of correlating our books to the Common Core Standards. Several of our series of books have already been done. I the past we used the McRel National Standards as a guideline for our products.
 
The Consumer Product Safety Commission standards or regulations is a set of standards and policies set by the federal government; I downloaded the information from the .gov site and find no wiggle room for any publisher of materials designed for use in classrooms to offer any products other than those complying with the unambiguous rules and regulations.  And, after teaching most of my career in California where stringent state and local regulations were also enforced am pleased to add my usual caveat reading the safety of materials and products.

Caveat:  I feel comfortable using supplies offered by this Educational Publisher.  Materials are manufactured of  good quality resources and are manufactured to provide a product suitable for classroom usage.  I find TCR teaching materials are created to provide harmless usage in situations where small children can reasonably be expected to be present; i.e. in classroom or comparable setting.


Recent personal correspondence with TCR indicates TCR items are tested and comply with Consumer Product Safety Commission standards or regulations.  This is a set of standards and regulations set by the US federal government. Safe, non harmful materials are especially welcomed by educators who buy most if not all classroom teaching and reinforcement materials.  We want and need well made materials we can use for several years.

An Internet search regarding Teacher Created Resources reveals: Teacher Created Resources is an educational publishing company founded by classroom teacher Mary Dupuy Smith.
